About the Role
AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer to join the Data Center and Mission Critical team in the east region. This hands-on, client-facing role focuses on designing HVAC systems for data centers, with opportunities to work on global projects and advance your career.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design Heat Rejection and HVAC systems for data centers, considering cooling requirements, airflow management, humidity control, and system redundancy
- →Select appropriate cooling systems including Fan wall units, CRAHs, chilled water systems, and in-row cooling solutions
- →Conduct CFD simulations to optimize airflow distribution, identify hotspots, and ensure efficient cooling
- →Design HVAC systems with redundancy and fault-tolerant features for continuous data center operation
- →Perform heat load calculations and capacity planning for data centers
- →Implement energy-efficient HVAC design strategies to minimize energy consumption
- →Ensure optimal air quality through appropriate filtration systems and monitoring mechanisms
- →Coordinate with electrical and mechanical systems to integrate HVAC with critical infrastructure
Requirements
- ✓Experience with data center HVAC system design
- ✓Knowledge of cooling systems for data centers including air cooled and direct fluid cooled options
- ✓Proficiency in CFD analysis and simulation
- ✓Understanding of redundancy and fault-tolerant system design
- ✓Ability to perform heat load calculations and capacity planning
- ✓Experience with energy-efficient HVAC design strategies
- ✓Strong coordination and collaboration skills with other engineering disciplines
