About the Role
We are seeking a Principal Engineer to join our Transmission & Distribution team in India. This role involves contributing to impactful Energy projects across global offices and developing technical expertise in a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- →Prepare designs and deliverables for primary electrical systems in transmission and distribution projects
- →Design primary substation systems including AIS/GIS configurations, transformer installations, circuit breaker selection, busbar arrangements, and disconnectors
- →Create single-line diagrams, general arrangement layouts, and equipment sizing plans
- →Perform short-circuit force calculations, busbar sizing, and fault current analysis
- →Design earthing systems, grounding layouts, and lightning protection systems
- →Integrate HVDC and HVAC systems including converter stations
- →Develop transformer layouts with oil containment and busduct routing
- →Optimize substation layouts considering space constraints and accessibility
- →Review and develop control and protection systems for primary substations
- →Coordinate with civil teams for foundations, steel structures, and cable routes
- →Develop equipment specifications, BOMs, and support procurement
- →Prepare electrical interconnection diagrams and cable schedules
- →Design auxiliary systems like cooling, power supplies, and battery systems
- →Design underground cable systems with proper sizing and routing
- →Coordinate with vendors and contractors for equipment supply and installation
Requirements
- ✓Extensive experience in electrical engineering for transmission and distribution projects
- ✓Strong knowledge of primary substation systems and equipment
- ✓Proficiency in creating detailed electrical designs and documentation
- ✓Experience with short-circuit analysis, protection design, and system stability
- ✓Familiarity with earthing systems and lightning protection
- ✓Understanding of HVDC and HVAC system integration
- ✓Ability to optimize substation layouts for various constraints
- ✓Experience with control and protection system design
- ✓Strong coordination and communication skills
- ✓Technical expertise in equipment specification and procurement support
- ✓Knowledge of auxiliary system design and integration
- ✓Experience with underground cable design and routing
- ✓Ability to work with external vendors and contractors
