Technical Program Manager II β Video Streaming & Infrastructure
About Alarm.com
Alarm.com (Nasdaq: ALRM) is the leading platform for intelligently connected property. Millions of customers rely on our technology for security, video, energy management, and smart automation. Our video platform processes billions of clips, powers real-time live streaming for homes and businesses, and integrates with a broad range of camera models across multiple hardware ecosystems.
About the Role
We're looking for a Technical Program Manager to own delivery and customer experience of Alarm.com's video services. This role sits within the Product & Program Management team and is responsible for driving programs spanning real-time video delivery, cloud infrastructure modernization, video pipeline architecture (encoding, storage, delivery), and firmware update operations for our camera ecosystem. This is a high-impact, technically deep role β you'll partner directly with embedded firmware engineers, cloud platform teams, and product managers to ensure the infrastructure underpinning Alarm.com's entire video experience is reliable, performant, and continuously improving.
What You'll Do
β’ Drive end-to-end execution of video streaming and infrastructure programs from concept through launch, including cross-team dependency management, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication
β’ Own the streaming technology roadmap: connection protocols, proxy infrastructure, adaptive bitrate streaming, and codec modernization
β’ Coordinate and drive delivery of cloud infrastructure migration programs β engineering owns the technical implementation, you own the schedule, dependencies, and cross-team alignment
β’ Monitor and manage firmware update systems for cameras, ensuring updates roll out safely and on schedule across the device fleet
β’ Track system health metrics for customer-impacting services and drive resolution when metrics degrade
β’ Coordinate across firmware, backend, frontend, QA, and DevOps teams β many of these programs span 4+ engineering teams
β’ Establish and maintain program health metrics, escalation paths, and delivery cadences across a portfolio of concurrent programs
β’ Partner with product managers to translate technical infrastructure investments into business outcomes and prioritization decisions
β’ Other duties as assigned
What You Bring
β’ 5+ years in technical program management, engineering management, or a senior technical IC role shipping infrastructure or media products at scale
β’ Deep familiarity with video/media technology: streaming protocols (e.g. WebRTC, HLS, RTSP), video and audio codecs, or media pipelines
β’ Experience with cloud infrastructure: container orchestration, CI/CD, microservices architecture, load balancing
β’ Ability to read and discuss code, architecture diagrams, and system designs with engineers β you don't need to write production code, but you need to understand it
β’ Track record of managing concurrent programs with competing priorities and cross-functional dependencies
β’ Strong written and verbal communication β you'll present to engineering leadership and translate infrastructure complexity into plain language
Nice to Have
β’ Experience in IoT, security/surveillance, or connected device ecosystems
β’ Familiarity with media server frameworks or real-time media processing
β’ Background in SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering before moving to program management
β’ Experience with Jira portfolio management at scale
Why This Role
β’ You'll own one of the most technically interesting portfolios in the company β real-time video at scale across cloud, edge, and embedded
β’ Direct impact on millions of end users' video experience
β’ Small, senior PM team (no bureaucracy) with strong engineering partnerships
β’ Opportunity to shape the long-term streaming and infrastructure architecture, not just execute tickets
Please note that sponsorship of new applicants for employment authorization, or any other immigration-related support, is not available for this position at this time.
