It is an exciting time to join ANS. We are seeking an experienced Substation Physical - Principal Engineer to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will participate in and contribute to a diverse range of engineering projects and services in a
team-oriented environment. Under the direction of experienced engineers and in collaboration with a team, you will gain exposure to the Renewables industry in Solar and Battery Energy Storage projects and Utility Interconnections.
Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Leadership: The successful candidate will provide strong leadership,overseeing team management, staffing, planning, training, and resourcedevelopment to ensure the successful execution of projects. This leader will drivethe delivery of substation projects ensuring they meet quality standards and clientspecific requirements. Additionally, this role will be responsible for establishingand communicate short- and long-term goals, with clear KPIs to guide performanceand project success.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders, acrossmultiple departments (and geographies) to ensure project execution to supportcompany goals and business objectives. Work closely with other departments drivingdriving excellence in the overall execution and client experience at ANS.
• Innovation: This role demands a forward-thinking mindset, staying open to newideas, technologies, and ways of working. It requires a willingness to challenge thestatus quo, explore innovative solutions, and continuously seek improvements todrive progress and efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Knowledge of technical applications and software required to review planand profiles, sections, details, and sag and tension charts for constructiondrawing sets.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering principles, industrystandards, and codes with a passion for transmission line engineeringdesign.
• Ability to develop, follow, interpret and apply internal, client, and industryprocedures and standards to complex design situations and provideguidance to staff in implementation.
• Ability to develop, review and evaluate design alternatives based onexperience, standards, and codes to solve constructability and designchallenges and provide direction to staff.
• Ability to lead client interactions either from an office or field environmentto answer technical and business questions, drive solutions, and mitigatenegative impacts in stressful situations.
• Excellent communication skills, high emotional intelligence, and an innateability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders (technical and non-technical alike).
• Experience with and understanding of modeling software for poles andstructures, sag and tension, transmission line routing and load modeling,grounding, lightning, and basic electrical calculations or modelingpreferred. Intermediate PLS-CADD/POLE/TOWER, PSSE, CAD and PDFeditor knowledge strongly preferred
Requirements:
• BS in Electrical, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering from an accreditedinstitution or equivalent Engineering BS degree. Preference to Powerspecific programs.
• Professional Engineer License
• 7+ years of experience in transmission line design and engineering.
• Ability to Travel 25%+ and hold a Passport
• Not Required but Bonus Points for: Being fluent in Spanish
