ABOUT AUREM
Aurem is building the AI-native operating system for the global retirement and wealth industry β a $58.5 trillion market still running on legacy, pre-internet infrastructure. We unify complex products, processes, and data into a single intelligent platform. Our current and future clients span the worldβs largest banks, insurers, pension providers, and governments.
THE ROLE: TEST ENGINEER
At Aurem we are looking for a sharp, detail-oriented Test Engineer to join our fast-paced engineering team and help us catch bugs before they catch us. You'll play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our core applications and services. You'll work closely with developers and backend systems, tackling everything from simple UI checks to complex integration tests and the occasional wild edge cases that nobody saw coming. This is a hands-on role for someone who is passionate about quality and wants to influence the entire development lifecycle, not just the end of it.
WHATβS YOUR PLAYGROUND
Your playground is the entire quality engineering process across Aurem's operating system for the global retirement and wealth industry. This includes:
- Technology Stack: Front-end and back-end services, core applications, and the intelligent platform unifying complex products, processes, and data.
- Testing Scope: Everything from simple UI checks and user experience flows to complex integration tests, end-to-end testing of business logic, and identifying wild edge cases.
- Development Cycle Integration: Owning the CI/CD pipeline, establishing quality gates, and actively driving a "shift-left" testing mentality by participating in design and sprint planning.
- Process Improvement: Exploring and implementing new testing methodologies (e.g., performance testing, exploratory testing) to continually elevate quality engineering standards.
- Impact: Working with the world's largest banks, insurers, pension providers, and governments, ensuring the reliability and trustworthiness of a system managing significant global capital.
WHAT YOUβLL DO
- Build automated tests that actually work (and stay fixed): Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable automated test scripts for both front-end and back-end services using tools (e.g., Jest, Playwright).
- Write test cases that don't require a PhD to interpret: Develop clear, comprehensive, and maintainable test plans, test cases, and test data for new features and regressions, focusing on user experience and business logic. This includes functional, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Integrate tests into CI/CD: Establish and improve the automated execution of test suites within our continuous integration pipeline to provide immediate feedback on code quality and prevent merges that introduce regressions.
- Own our CD pipeline: Proactively manage and enhance the Continuous Deployment process, including defining effective deployment gates and quality checks, ensuring safe and rapid delivery of software to production environments.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 2-4 years of professional experience testing commercial software applications, ideally in an Agile or rapid development environment.
- Demonstrable ability to code in at least one programming language: Python, JavaScript, Java, or similar, necessary for writing and maintaining effective test automation frameworks.
- Solid knowledge of and practical experience with industry-standard test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Jest, Pytest, Playwright).
- Deep familiarity with the development lifecycle; Git & CI/CD aren't just buzzwordsβyou've actually used them.
- SQL basicsβyou know your way around a database query for setting up test data, validating test results, and debugging backend issues.
- Strong communication skills; you can communicate clearly (what you found, why it matters, how to fix it) across technical and non-technical teams.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
- Integrate into CI/CD pipeline and take ownership of automated test suite.
- Implement E2E test coverage for core features, reducing production bugs.
- Lead evaluation and introduction of a new testing methodology (e.g., performance testing).
- Champion 'shift-left' mindset, preventing major development re-work through design feedback.
- Establish the Test Engineer function as the critical quality gate for all major code changes.
- Mentor developers on effective unit and integration testing to foster shared quality ownership.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
This role is the linchpin that ensures Aurem's technology is not only powerful but also trustworthy and reliable. By maintaining the highest standards of test engineering, you directly safeguard our clients from system failures, data errors, and operational risk. Your work translates directly into market credibility, accelerated feature delivery, and the successful transformation of global retirement and wealth management. You won't just be testing; you'll be building the foundation of trust for a system that manages significant global capital.
