About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional Staff-level Backend Software Engineer to join the Aurora Services Engineering team. This role involves building Aurora's suite of fleet management tools for autonomous vehicle fleets, focusing on terminal operations and creating solutions that enable commercial operation at scale.

Key Responsibilities

→Design complex systems from the ground up, working closely with software, hardware, and infrastructure engineering teams
→Embrace AI tools to add new features and improve engineering efficiency
→Build backend services running in Aurora’s AWS cloud to monitor and manage the location and activity of autonomous fleets
→Establish technology and infrastructure to scale products with high availability and reliability
→Collaborate with stakeholders including Security, Product, Design, Safety, and Cloud Platform
→Send suggestions and receive updates from vehicles in real time to ensure safe operation
→Contribute to and evolve team culture around mentorship, feedback, collaboration, and engineering excellence

Requirements

✓Phenomenal communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts
✓A preference for action with good judgment to balance speed and quality
✓The drive to make teams stronger through collaboration and integrated teamwork
✓Motivation to own the product lifecycle end to end
✓Strong backend service engineering skills with experience in Golang, Python, C++, gRPC, Kubernetes, and AWS
✓Experience working with databases and caches such as Postgres and Redis
✓Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
✓6+ years of industry experience with a focus on high-availability cloud services
