About the Role
We are looking for a Technical Lead Engineering Manager to join Aurora's Autonomy Integration Team. This role involves working across multiple teams to optimize simplicity and reliability for customer users, ensuring safe and reliable deployment of the Aurora Driver on various platforms, and building frameworks for system redundancy and fault tolerance.
Key Responsibilities
- →Work across teams (hardware, embedded software, autonomy software, cloud services, operations) to optimize simplicity and reliability
- →Ensure safe and reliable deployment of the Aurora Driver on partner vehicle and compute platforms
- →Provide mechanisms for remotely offering human guidance to improve mission success
- →Build and maintain fault handling framework for system redundancy
- →Measure Aurora Driver product performance and identify improvement opportunities
- →Interface with ECUs that report state and control vehicle platforms
- →Detect platform error conditions and initiate behavioral responses
- →Build and maintain tests and test infrastructure for integration validation
- →Ensure system integration with base vehicle platform has complete redundancy
- →Map Aurora Driver software components to hardware components
- →Monitor onboard system performance metrics and identify optimization hot spots
- →Maintain onboard orchestration of launching onboard software components
- →Optimize speed and reliability of primary product functions
- →Enhance speed and reliability of secondary product functions
- →Lead a team of 10-20 engineers on developing plans to achieve company objectives
- →Decide on technical approaches while balancing competing efforts and value
- →Direct execution of programs with both internal and external team members
- →Identify technical and schedule risks and generate solution ideas
Requirements
- ✓8+ years of experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, aerospace, or complex autonomy systems
- ✓At least 3+ years in a formal management or TLM role
- ✓Proven track record of integrating complex software stacks onto diverse hardware/embedded platforms
- ✓Experience building automated test infrastructure for software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) integrations
- ✓History of successfully navigating technical trade-offs between software, embedded, and hardware challenges
- ✓Ability to translate vague product goals into concrete technical requirements and execution plans
