Key Responsibilities
- →Lead, mentor, and grow a team building and operating the Service Point platform
- →Coach engineers in technical problem solving, system design, and career growth
- →Partner with product and platform leadership to define roadmaps, set priorities, and ensure successful delivery
- →Own technical designs for the Service Point embedded Linux appliance running Docker container workloads orchestrated via Nomad
- →Guide the evolution of OS services, security hardening, container runtime behavior, and system-level networking
- →Design for edge constraints including limited CPU/memory resources, reduced operating footprints, and low-overhead orchestration
- →Establish robust strategies for appliance provisioning, upgrades, telemetry, diagnostics, and recovery
- →Oversee reliable operation of Service Point across globally distributed, edge-based deployments
- →Build monitoring, alerting, and analytics suited for remote or low-bandwidth environments
- →Lead incident response and root-cause analysis for complex issues spanning Linux internals, networking, containers, and orchestration
- →Collaborate closely with Cloud Platform and Product teams to ensure smooth integration of Service Point capabilities
Requirements
- ✓Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- ✓10+ years of engineering experience, including 3–5 years in technical leadership or engineering management roles
- ✓Deep knowledge of Linux internals, especially Debian including systemd, cgroups, namespaces, networking stack, routing, DNS, DHCP, iptables/nftables, and package management
- ✓Strong experience with Docker containerization and container networking
- ✓Proficiency in Golang and/or Python for systems development and API integration
- ✓Expert-level proficiency with HashiCorp tooling (Terraform, Packer, Vault, Consul, Nomad)
- ✓Experience building and packaging applications using Makefiles and GNU toolchain, Golang compiler toolchain, and Debian packaging tools
- ✓Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing)
- ✓Demonstrated experience driving engineering rigor, CI/CD automation, observability, and operational excellence
- ✓Previous experience with embedded Linux appliances in networking or edge compute environments is preferred
- ✓Knowledge of Kubernetes and lightweight distributions such as k3s as complementary orchestration tools is preferred
- ✓Experience designing or operating systems for constrained, highly distributed, or offline environments is preferred
- ✓Background with encryption, key management, and secure infrastructure design is preferred
