In This Role
In this role, you will support software validation for a confidential device initiative by designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test suites across prototype devices, software builds, and release environments. You will work closely with engineering leaders, senior engineers, and project stakeholders to improve test coverage, investigate failures, document defects, and provide clear release-readiness insights. This position requires a hands-on engineer who can work independently, write and maintain automation, analyze test results, and support software quality throughout the development and release lifecycle.
Responsibilities
β’ Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites for functional, regression, smoke, performance, and release validation scenarios.
β’ Validate software across prototype devices, builds, test environments, and release pipelines.
β’ Review automated test results, investigate failures, reproduce issues, and provide clear diagnostic information to engineering teams.
β’ Expand and improve automated test coverage for high-priority scenarios, critical functionality, and release-blocking risks.
β’ Contribute to scalable automation frameworks, test infrastructure, and CI/CD test integration.
β’ Deploy, configure, and maintain prototype devices or test environments used for automated test execution.
β’ Conduct automated smoke tests to confirm device, build, and environment readiness.
β’ Identify, document, and escalate defects, quality risks, test gaps, recurring failures, and potential release blockers.
β’ Use bug tracking systems to document issues, provide reproduction steps, verify fixes, and support issue closure.
β’ Prepare and maintain test plans, test procedures, scripts, execution reports, coverage summaries, and release-readiness documentation.
β’ Partner with engineering, PM, and project leadership to communicate test status, defect trends, quality risks, and recommendations.
β’ Support release validation, regression testing, post-release verification, and readiness assessments.
β’ Adapt to changing priorities while independently driving assigned technical work to completion.
Qualifications
β’ Associateβs degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
β’ 5+ years of software engineering or software development experience.
β’ 5β7 years of relevant experience in software testing, test automation, quality engineering, or software engineering in test.
β’ 1+ year of hands-on software automated testing experience.
β’ 3+ years of experience independently driving technical work and delivering value.
β’ Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test suites.
β’ Experience writing code, debugging software issues, analyzing test failures, and providing actionable recommendations.
β’ Experience testing software across builds, devices, environments, or release pipelines.
β’ Familiarity with CI/CD test integration and automated validation workflows.
β’ Experience creating and maintaining test documentation, including test plans, test scripts, procedures, and result reports.
β’ Experience documenting defects in bug tracking systems and collaborating with developers through resolution.
β’ Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with engineering, PM, and project leadership teams.
β’ Ability to work 100% onsite in Redmond, WA, Monday through Friday.
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Android or mobile operating system testing experience.
β’ Experience supporting validation for prototype devices, hardware-adjacent software, or pre-release product environments.
β’ Experience with automation framework design, implementation, integration, or maintenance.
β’ Experience supporting release validation, regression testing, and post-release verification.
β’ Experience configuring test devices, test environments, or automation setups.
β’ Experience producing coverage metrics, defect reports, release-readiness summaries, and risk assessments.
β’ Ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environment with limited supervision.
β’ Experience collaborating with senior engineers or technical leads on automation strategy, framework improvements, and failure analysis.
Salary Range
At Blueprint, we strive to offer competitive pay that reflects the value of our team members. Compensation for this role is influenced by a variety of factors, including skills, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographic market. For candidates based in Washington State, the anticipated salary range is $38.46β $43.27 per hr. Please note that we typically do not hire new employees at the top of the posted range. Actual starting pay will be determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity. The final salary and job title may vary depending on the selected candidateβs qualifications and could fall outside the stated range.
