About the Role
Bumble is seeking a Network Engineer to maintain a stable, predictable, controllable, and secure network. This role will be based in London and report to the Senior Infrastructure Manager, Data Centre.
Key Responsibilities
- →Support and evolve Bumble’s global network infrastructure across multiple data centres and offices
- →Improve network reliability and operational efficiency through configuration management and automation
- →Contribute to the design, implementation, and operation of cloud networking during migration to cloud environments
- →Collaborate closely with Systems Engineering and SRE teams on design reviews and platform architectures
- →Manage relationships with global service providers including IP transit operators
- →Own IP address management including subnet allocation, VLAN design, and documentation
- →Strengthen Bumble’s security posture through perimeter defence and segmentation strategy
- →Participate in the on-call rota to maintain platform availability and support incident response
Requirements
- ✓3+ years of hands-on Linux systems engineering experience with rpm-based distributions
- ✓Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for application performance and networking challenges
- ✓Deep understanding of networking across L1–L4 and L7 including Ethernet and routing
- ✓Production experience with IS-IS and BGP
- ✓Extensive hands-on experience with Juniper MX, SRX, and QFX devices
- ✓Practical experience implementing and supporting EVPN-VXLAN architectures
- ✓Strong background in load balancing and packet filtering
- ✓Experience building and supporting cloud networking architectures
- ✓Proficiency with 802.1X, 802.1Q, and bonding/teaming
- ✓Strong diagnostic capabilities with IPv4, ICMP, TCP, UDP, DHCP, and DNS
- ✓Ability to perform end-to-end troubleshooting from switch ports to Linux kernel networking
- ✓Experience designing or operating DDoS mitigation strategies
- ✓Proven effectiveness working within cross-functional engineering teams
- ✓Experience supporting a segmented, heterogeneous network environment
- ✓Solid understanding of information security principles
