Job Summary:
MSM Industries is seeking a skilled FARO Arm Operator / Programmer to support precision inspection and metrology operations within our aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining Hexagon Absolute Arm systems to perform high-accuracy inspections on complex machined and composite components. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with PC-DMIS, strong GD&T knowledge, and a deep understanding of aerospace quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Operate and program Hexagon Absolute Arm systems, including AS1 laser scanner and tactile probing.
β’ Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PC-DMIS scanning and probing inspection routines.
β’ Generate FAIRs, inspection reports, and nonconformance documentation as required.
β’ Interpret complex aerospace engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
β’ Collaborate closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to resolve inspection issues.
β’ Support internal and external audits related to ISO9001 quality system requirements.
β’ Import and manage CAD models, align parts using appropriate datum structures, and execute inspections.
Requirement Qualifications:
β’ Strong working knowledge of PC-DMIS for both scanning and probing applications.
β’ Proven experience operating Hexagon Absolute Arm systems, specifically with the AS1 scanner.
β’ Solid understanding of point cloud processing, feature extraction, and alignment techniques.
β’ Familiarity with ISO9001, First Article Inspection (FAI), and AS9102 requirements.
β’ Hands-on inspection experience with aluminum, titanium, Inconel, and/or composite parts.
β’ 3β5+ years of experience in aerospace machining, precision manufacturing, or metrology.
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Experience supporting high-mix, low-volume aerospace manufacturing.
β’ Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
β’ Background working in a regulated aerospace or defense environment.
Physical Requirements
β’ Lifting or moving materials or equipment samples (45 lbs.)
β’ Exposure to noise, machinery, and moving equipment.
β’ Temperature fluctuations (Inspection Room/ Warehouse)
