About the Role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join Canva’s Cloud Enablement team. This role focuses on leading a high-impact infrastructure team responsible for the foundations that all other teams depend on. Your mission is to make governance invisible, automated, and enabling so engineers can move quickly and responsibly across AWS and GCP.
Key Responsibilities
- →Lead and coach a team of platform engineers building cloud landing zones, account vending, and governance foundations
- →Drive compliance by design through preventative controls, automation, and clear developer workflows
- →Partner closely with Security, Risk & Compliance, and Platform teams to deliver data-informed governance
- →Support Canva’s Containers Everywhere company goal, including establishing GCP as a first-class environment
- →Balance operational excellence with long-term platform strategy and scalability
- →Grow high performers through regular feedback, coaching, and career development
- →Advocate for governance as an enabler, not a blocker, to innovation
Requirements
- ✓Managed infrastructure or platform teams through complex technical challenges
- ✓Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure governance, ideally across AWS and/or GCP
- ✓Experience in leading teams that operate critical, highly-scaled systems
- ✓Comfortable translating complex technical concepts for a wide range of stakeholders
- ✓Balance delivery, reliability, and long-term strategy with confidence
- ✓Build trust, psychological safety, and a strong team culture
- ✓Comfortable navigating ambiguity and helping teams find clarity
