Where and how you can work
The buzzing Canva London campus features several buildings around beautiful leafy Hoxton Square in Shoreditch. While our global headquarters is in Sydney, Australia, London is our HQ for Europe, with all kinds of teams based here, plus event spaces to gather our team and communities. You'll experience a warm welcome from our Vibe team at front of house, amazing home cooked food from our Head Chef and a variety of workspaces to hang out with your team mates or get solo work done. That said, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals and so you have choice in where and how you work.
What youβd be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
β’ You will be the main driver for improving quality in your embedded team and work with key stakeholders to drive process, tooling, and testing changes.
β’ You will also be responsible for creating the test strategy for the team's projects, with a focus on shift left QA activities instead of just test execution.
β’ You will also be the subject matter expert for the team's testing and product knowledge, driving knowledge sharing and documentation for your team and other teams' software engineers and QA
β’ You'll also need to model initiative and ownership in achieving goals, improving processes and solutions for other QA engineers. You'll work with other Senior QA engineers to define expectations and up skill other QA engineers.
You're probably a match if
β’ You are proactive, results-oriented, and comfortable navigating ambiguity, thriving in a fast-paced environment where you can take initiative and drive outcomes.
β’ You have experience with working with product teams, and defining the QA process for your team. This may involve looking at the current development process for each team, identifying opportunities for injecting quality, and advocating for process changes to improve product quality.
β’ You can articulate technical concepts clearly and work effectively within a team environment, readily sharing knowledge and engaging with stakeholders across the engineering organiation.
β’ You have demonstrated experience building and maintaining robust Test Automation Frameworks.
β’ You have experience in testing complex web apps, mobile apps (iOS and Android), and backend services.
β’ You are meticulous in your work and passionate about testing.
β’ You have experience in coaching/guiding team members with testing best practices.
β’ You possess a solid grasp of test automation principles across different levels (unit, integration, E2E) and understand the challenges involved in building reliable, maintainable test suites and frameworks.
β’ You have automated tasks using a scripting language like Bash or Python. You have a good understanding of what needs to be included in unit, integration, and end-to-end tests and can coach engineers on what needs to be automated.
Not a must, but a big plus if:
β’ You have experience with Creative Software. Experience with concepts like Animation and Data Visualisation is a bonus, and familiarity with professional creative software is preferred.
β’ Experience with test frameworks such as Cyprus or Playwright
β’ You have experience with new and upcoming tech like Machine Learning Model testing
β’ You have experience with Accessibility testing.
