About the Role
Cedar is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to help evolve their data ecosystem from homegrown ETL scripts to a modern, scalable stack built on tools like dbt, Airflow, and Snowflake. This role involves designing and owning critical data pipelines, improving data quality and observability, and defining patterns and standards for data products.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design, build, and own scalable ELT/ETL pipelines for client billing, financial reporting, product analytics, and data services.
- →Modernize legacy data flows by migrating SQL- and Liquibase-based transformations into dbt.
- →Improve reliability and observability of the data platform by implementing best practices in testing, monitoring, and alerting.
- →Model data for usability and performance in Snowflake and other systems.
- →Partner with product, finance, analytics, and integrations teams to ensure data accuracy and delivery.
- →Contribute to Cedar’s data platform vision by establishing standards for governance, metadata, and access.
- →Provide technical mentorship to other engineers.
Requirements
- ✓5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience.
- ✓Strong SQL and Python proficiency.
- ✓Deep experience with modern data stack tools like Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow.
- ✓Proven track record designing and operating reliable pipelines.
- ✓Experience with data modeling and schema design.
- ✓Familiarity with cloud platforms, ideally AWS.
- ✓Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- ✓High ownership and bias to action in complex environments.
