Cartesia is seeking a Software Engineer, Databases to architect and implement data systems capable of handling massive scale while ensuring strong uptime, latency, and correctness guarantees. This role involves designing data storage architectures across multiple environments and providing secure, reliable database tooling for the entire organization.
Key Responsibilities
- →Develop and evolve database platforms to support 100x+ scale
- →Design data storage architectures that operate across AWS, GCP, on-prem, and third-party environments
- →Provide engineers and non-engineers with high-quality database tooling and primitives
- →Create secure access control mechanisms for sensitive data
- →Build scalable data governance systems for permissions, auditing, and compliance
Requirements
- ✓Strong proficiency with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
- ✓Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Terraform
- ✓Track record of scaling database systems at fast-growing organizations
- ✓4+ years of industry experience, including 2+ years leading technical initiatives
- ✓Deep hands-on experience with databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or DynamoDB
- ✓Experience designing database infrastructure in multi-cloud or hybrid environments
- ✓Familiarity with database automation, orchestration, and operational tooling at scale
