About the Role
NYC Department for the Aging seeks an Eviction Support Specialist to help older adults facing eviction proceedings. This role involves providing direct case assistance, conducting assessments, and coordinating with court and community partners to stabilize housing crises.
Key Responsibilities
- βProvide quality social services to older adults at risk of eviction
- βPrepare and submit emergency rental assistance and housing subsidy applications
- βAssist clients with entitlements, benefits, and other social services
- βConduct field work, home visits, and attend housing court as needed
- βReport on client status and appear at Housing Court proceedings
- βEstablish community linkages and serve as a liaison to organizations
- βRefer clients to legal service providers
- βCreate and maintain client records
- βSupport special projects assigned by the unit Director
Requirements
- βExperience in social services or case management
- βKnowledge of housing court processes and rental assistance programs
- βAbility to conduct comprehensive assessments and provide direct client support
- βStrong communication and advocacy skills
- βAbility to work independently and as part of a team
- βFamiliarity with community-based organizations and legal service providers
- βProficiency in record-keeping and documentation
