Your Team:
Housing Preservation & Development Technology (HPD Tech) is the IT division within HPD. The Office of HPD Tech leads the agencyβs effort to transform HPD through technology by promoting productivity and eliminating manual processing, shrinking costs, and increasing the pace of work. HPD Tech works to improve effectiveness of business processes using core applications for flawless execution. HPD Tech empowers decision makers with access to quality (complete and accurate) information to anticipate and pro-actively react to building, neighborhood and market conditions.
The Office of HPDTech is composed of 7 units: CIO (Chief Information Office), CTO (Chief Technology Office), CPO (Chief Product Office), Budget, Enterprise Architecture, Planning & Compliance, and Information Security.
Your Impact:
As the Project Management Office Data Analytics Intern for the Division of HPD Tech, you will support enterprise project governance, performance monitoring, and reporting across the agencyβs technology and operational initiatives. Your work will contribute to strengthening standardized project oversight, enhancing data-driven reporting, and improving portfolio performance analysis. Through these efforts, you will help enable informed decision-making and promote effective resource management across the division.
Your Role:
The PMO seeks a graduate-level Summer Intern to support data analytics, business intelligence, and automated reporting initiatives. The selected candidate will assist with the development and maintenance of Power BI dashboards and automated reporting solutions that support project portfolio oversight and performance monitoring. The intern will also assist in developing trigger-based alerts designed to notify stakeholders when key performance thresholds or risk indicators are met.
Your Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of PMO leadership and designated staff, the intern will:
- Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of Power BI dashboards supporting project and portfolio reporting.
- Assist in developing automated reporting workflows using Power BI, Power Automate, or comparable tools.
- Configure automated alerts and notifications based on defined project performance triggers, which may include:
o Schedule variances and milestone delays
o Budget or cost threshold exceedances
o Resource capacity and allocation risks
o Risk and issue escalation indicators
o Service level agreement or performance metric deviations
- Assist in developing and maintaining reporting standards, data definitions, and dashboard documentation.
- Perform data analysis to support PMO performance measurement and continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Assist with preparation of executive-level and operational reporting materials.
- Support PMO staff with data governance and reporting quality assurance activities.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Current enrollment in a graduate degree program in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Public Administration, Project Management, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with Microsoft Excel or comparable data analysis tools.
- Ability to organize, analyze, and interpret data from multiple sources.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
