This is a key engagement focused on the <strong data-path-to-node="1" data-index-in-node="206">discovery and solution design</strong> for replacing a core communications and document system.</p> <p data-path-to-node="2">You will lead a structured technology discovery process to produce a defensible, implementable design that addresses technical debt and security vulnerabilities. Working as an integrated part of an existing squad, you will ensure the new architecture aligns with enterprise standards while remaining practical for incremental delivery.</p> <p data-path-to-node="3">This is a contract role based in <strong data-path-to-node="3" data-index-in-node="33">Auckland</strong>, with a hybrid working model (2 days per week on-site) and an initial duration of <strong data-path-to-node="3" data-index-in-node="124">6 months</strong>.</p> <h3 data-path-to-node="5"><strong data-path-to-node="5" data-index-in-node="0">What you’ll be doing</strong></h3> <p data-path-to-node="6">You will work within a cross-functional squad to lead the design process for a high-scale digital platform and document generation system.</p> <p data-path-to-node="7"><strong data-path-to-node="7" data-index-in-node="0">Your responsibilities will include:</strong></p> <ul data-path-to-node="8"> <li> <p data-path-to-node="8,0,0"><strong data-path-to-node="8,0,0" data-index-in-node="0">Technology Discovery:</strong> Assessing the current stack, integration dependencies, and data flows to evaluate replacement options against cloud strategy (Azure).</p> </li> <li> <p data-path-to-node="8,1,0"><strong data-path-to-node="8,1,0" data-index-in-node="0">Solution Design:</strong> Producing high-level architecture, component designs, and integration patterns for enterprise-scale systems.</p> </li> <li> <p data-path-to-node="8,2,0"><strong data-path-to-node="8,2,0" data-index-in-node="0">Implementation Roadmap:</strong> Developing a phased delivery plan with sequencing, dependencies, and indicative effort estimates.</p> </li> <li> <p data-path-to-node="8,3,0"><strong data-path-to-node="8,3,0" data-index-in-node="0">Risk &amp; Dependency Analysis:</strong> Identifying key technical risks and mitigations, integrating them into the existing risk register.</p> </li> <li> <p data-path-to-node="8,4,0"><strong data-path-to-node="8,4,0" data-index-in-node="0">Observability &amp; Operability:</strong> Designing for diagnosability from day one, including SLO design, golden signals, and alert strategies.</p> </li> <li> <p data-path-to-node="8,5,0"><strong data-path-to-node="8,5,0" data-index-in-node="0">Collaboration:</strong> Aligning with the Digital Architect and Principal Engineer to ensure designs meet enterprise standards and architectural decisions.</p> </li> </ul> <h3 data-path-to-node="10"><strong data-path-to-node="10" data-index-in-node="0">The experience we’re looking for</strong></h3> <p data-path-to-node="11">We’re looking for a senior consultant who can "hit the ground running" and has a deep background in modernising legacy enterprise systems.</p> <p data-path-to-node="12"><strong data-path-to-node="12" data-index-in-node="0">Key skills include:</strong></p> <ul data-path-to-node="13"> <li> <p data-path-to-node="13,0,0"><strong data-path-to-node="13,0,0" data-index-in-node="0">Solution Architecture:</strong> Proven experience designing communications platforms or document generation systems at enterprise scale.</p> </li> <li> <p data-path-to-node="13,0,0"><strong data-path-to-node="13,1,0" data-index-in-node="0">Software Engineering Depth:</strong> Practical experience with <strong data-path-to-node="13,1,0" data-index-in-node="54">.NET, C#, TypeScript, and node.js</strong>.</p> </li> <li> <p data-path-to-node="13,2,0"><strong data-path-to-node="13,2,0" data-index-in-node="0">Azure Expertise:</strong> Familiarity with Azure cloud services, integration patterns, and cloud-native infrastructure.</p> </li> <li> <p data-path-to-node="13,3,0"><strong data-path-to-node="13,3,0" data-index-in-node="0">Quality Engineering:</strong> Experience with test design across unit, contract, API, and component layers, including synthetic/masked data strategies.</p> </li> <li> <p data-path-to-node="13,4,0"><strong data-path-to-node="13,4,0" data-index-in-node="0">Security Mindset:</strong> Proficiency in secure coding practices, secrets management, and least privilege principles.</p> </li> <li> <p data-path-to-node="13,5,0"><strong data-path-to-node="13,5,0" data-index-in-node="0">Modernisation Context:</strong> Knowledge of legacy-to-modern transitions, particularly involving integration layers or repository systems.</p> </li> </ul> <p data-path-to-node="14">Most importantly, we are looking for a leader who combines technical authority with a collaborative mindset, capable of delivering a robust design within an iterative, agile environment.</p> <h3><strong>What’s next?</strong></h3> <p>Sound like the opportunity you’ve been looking for?
