About the Role
We are looking for a talented Backend Engineer to join the Fields squad at ClickUp. Fields is the core behind our custom task data, focusing on dynamic schemas, high-volume updates, and user workflow flexibility. This role involves building scalable, high-throughput, low-latency services that handle millions of requests daily.
Key Responsibilities

Requirements
- ✓Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent major
- ✓5+ years of experience engineering performant and high-throughput systems (ideally on Node.js)
- ✓Experience writing high-quality code in TypeScript
- ✓Track record of building performant, high-throughput systems
- ✓Experience writing and debugging SQL queries at scale
- ✓Experience developing event-based systems
- ✓Experience with major cloud services (ideally AWS)
- ✓Empathetic communicator
- ✓Comfortable with ambiguity and delivering projects with little direction
- ✓Product-minded with good intuition for great user experiences
