About the Role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the RCM Core Backend Team at Commure, responsible for building and maintaining critical infrastructure for our Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) product. This role involves working with a high-performance team to drive product-wide initiatives, scale mission-critical backend services, and build new automations while ensuring system reliability, performance, and correctness.
Key Responsibilities
- →Lead and grow a team of 15+ engineers, ensuring clarity of purpose, healthy execution, and strong collaboration
- →Maintain the team’s startup mindset as we grow, excelling in fast-paced environments where priorities and objectives can shift
- →Own the technical execution and delivery of major backend systems and automation platforms that power our RCM products
- →Partner closely with Product, Ops, and cross-functional teams to build backend services that solve high-value business problems
- →Manage project and resource prioritization, ensuring the team works on the most important work streams
- →Uphold high standards in system design, code quality, and engineering operations
- →Coach and develop engineers, supporting career growth and technical excellence
- →Foster a strong, in-person culture of collaboration, inclusion, and mutual respect
Requirements
- ✓6+ years of experience developing software in a fast-paced, rapidly scaling environment
- ✓3+ years of experience leading engineering teams, including mentoring and performance reviews
- ✓Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- ✓A passion for healthcare innovation and making a meaningful impact on patient care
- ✓Experience managing teams of 10+ engineers, ideally with sub-team leads or tech leads
- ✓Proven ability to deliver platform-scale systems that are reliable, maintainable, and scalable
- ✓Proven experience as a technical leader with the ability to make key architectural and strategic decisions
- ✓Strong technical background with expertise in modern backend development (e.g., Python, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes)
- ✓Proven ability to manage resource allocation, ensuring projects are completed on time and with the right level of technical rigor
