About the Role

We are looking for a Video Playback Services Software Engineer to join our team at Crunchyroll. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining backend services that power the video playback experience for our global audience of anime fans.

Key Responsibilities

→Design and implement backend services and APIs that support video playback and configuration
→Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, design, and QA to deliver high-quality features
→Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving code quality and system architecture
→Debug and resolve moderate to complex issues related to video delivery, service health, or API behavior
→Take ownership of small to mid-sized features or components, from design to deployment

Requirements

✓2–4 years of professional software development experience
✓Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
✓Solid experience with backend programming languages such as TypeScript, Go, or similar
✓Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS or GCP
✓Understanding of the fundamentals of video streaming, APIs, and backend service architecture
✓Ability to work independently on well-defined projects and collaborate in an Agile environment
✓Effective communication skills and proactive in seeking feedback and mentoring more junior engineers
