About the Role
Discord is seeking an experienced Director of Security Operations to lead multiple security teams including Detection & Response, Enterprise Security, Identity & Access Management, and Cyber Threat Intelligence. This is a technical leadership role that will play a key role in defining and executing Discord's security operations strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- →Define and own the unified security operations strategy across multiple domains
- →Formalize and expand Discord's Cyber Threat Intelligence function
- →Own the identity and access management strategy across Discord
- →Collaborate with various departments to align security operations with company goals
- →Maintain technical depth to evaluate proposals and challenge assumptions
- →Get hands-on when needed to review detection logic, incident forensics, or IAM configurations
- →Drive engineering excellence across security operations
- →Build, lead, and scale a high-performing security organization
- →Establish operational rhythms and cross-team practices
- →Partner with Security Engineering leadership to integrate security efforts
- →Ensure threat intelligence is actionable and informs decision-making
- →Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on security matters
- →Act as an escalation point during significant security incidents
Requirements
- ✓10+ years of experience in security, with 5+ years in leadership roles
- ✓Technical ability to read and write code, review technical designs
- ✓Experience maturing security functions into structured programs
- ✓Ability to make decisive decisions in critical situations
- ✓Strong communication skills to address various audiences
- ✓Experience leading through significant security incidents
- ✓Deep experience with identity and access management at scale
- ✓Experience with cloud-native environments (GCP, AWS)
