ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
As an Engineering Manager for Developer Experience (DevEx) at Docebo, you operate at the intersection of engineering productivity and technical excellence. You don’t just manage a team; you shape the environment where every engineer at Docebo does their best work. You are accountable for identifying systemic bottlenecks and building the internal platforms, tools, and workflows that allow our teams to ship high-quality software with zero friction.This is a highly hands-on role for a leader who still loves to get into the code and understands that the "customer" is our internal engineering organization. You apply deep technical reasoning to the impact of AI on the software lifecycle, ensuring our internal platforms and organizational structures evolve in lockstep to fully realize the massive performance breakthroughs made possible by AI-accelerated development.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead and Code: Lead a high-performing team of engineers while remaining deeply hands-on in the design, development, and scaling of internal tools and platforms across our stack (Go, Node.js, TypeScript, PHP).
- Build the 10x Developer Environment: Institutionalize AI-assisted development workflows using tools like Claude Code, Gemini, and Cursor, to ensure they aren't just experiments, but core multipliers that let the whole org ship 10x faster.
- Own the CI/CD Lifecycle: Champion and evolve our CI/CD practices, ensuring that deployment is fast, safe, and reliable for all product teams.
- Optimize Developer Velocity: Use product analytics and observability tools to measure developer friction and define success metrics for the DevEx team.
- Architect Internal Leverage: Define and evolve architectural patterns and self-service interfaces that reduce system complexity, enabling engineering teams to provision and manage resources autonomously to maximize velocity across the company.
- Collaborate and Influence: Partner with Product Engineering leadership to align DevEx initiatives with company strategy, ensuring technical leverage is built into every major decision.
- Mentor and Multiply: Coach and grow engineers not just within your team, but across the organization, raising the bar for code quality, testing, and operational reliability.
WHAT IT TAKES TO BE SUCCESSFUL
Successful Engineering Managers are proactive, people-first leaders who create leverage through others. You support execution while guiding team development, technical quality, operational maturity, and business alignment. You are obsessed with keeping direction clear, metrics trustworthy, and work visible—ensuring their teams operate with shared context, measurable progress, and transparency for all stakeholders. You are exceptional communicators, able to represent your team across multiple levels. All managers are expected to model psychological safety, feedback culture, and inclusive communication.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Extensive experience in full-stack software development, with a proven track record of building and shipping SaaS products or internal platforms end-to-end.
- Hands-on expertise in a Platform or DevEx context, with deep knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, containerization, and modern observability practices.
- A versatile polyglot engineer with a proven track record of mastering new languages and frameworks rapidly, demonstrating the agility to lead and contribute across any part of an evolving technical stack.
- Mastery of AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) and a passion for teaching others how to use them to dramatically accelerate output.
- Proven leadership ability in navigating ambiguity and breaking down complex, multi-variable problems into executable plans.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to treat internal developers as customers—listening to their pain points and translating them into elegant technical solutions.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience is a plus.
