POSITION OVERVIEW
The Quality Assurance Engineer SME II supports the testing and quality assurance activities of the task order by applying deep technical expertise in automation, test strategy, and quality engineering practices. This role works closely with Automation Engineers, developers, and technical leadership to ensure testing is thorough, repeatable, and aligned with mission objectives.
The SME II contributes to the design and implementation of automation testing strategies and toolsets, helping integrate them into the end-to-end development lifecycle. They play a key role in strengthening QA practices across cloud and data-driven solutions, ensuring test coverage, regression health, and overall product quality.
This role operates at the intersection of engineering and quality governanceβsupporting test planning, participating in quality forums, and helping translate test results into actionable insights for stakeholders. The SME II collaborates with lead engineers and SMEs across teams to support release readiness and continuous improvement efforts. They also stay current on emerging trends in test automation and quality engineering, applying best practices to enhance delivery and mission outcomes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated experience supporting the testing aspects of a task order or project.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable contractor fitness determination
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with Automation Engineers to ensure appropriate test coverage and execution.
- Experience working as part of a team using modern cloud and data technologies to support mission delivery.
- Ability to contribute to automation testing strategies and toolsets.
- Experience integrating testing strategies and tools into development processes to enhance existing QA practices.
- Minimum 4 years of experience with all phases of software testing.
- Experience supporting QA oversight and governance activities, including adherence to standards and contributing to release readiness assessments.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to Automation Engineers, promoting consistency and continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret test results and communicate risks, impacts, and recommendations to technical stakeholders.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively across teams and contribute to resolving conflicts and aligning priorities.
- Demonstrated experience with modern quality engineering and test automation in cloud/data environments (including tool usage, maintainable automation, and regression strategies).
- Evidence of staying current with QA/testing best practices (e.g., training, certifications, or adoption of new tools and methodologies).
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation and test artifacts.
- Ability to support identification of process improvements and contribute insights to broader organizational initiatives.
