About the Role
We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Search team. This globally-distributed team of expert engineers focuses on delivering a robust and feature-rich search experience, including improving the search experience in Lucene. This role will focus on enhancing vector and keyword search functionality within Elasticsearch.
Key Responsibilities
- →Lead initiatives to produce an industry-leading search engine offering with unparalleled speed and relevance
- →Contribute to Elasticsearch by building new search features and fixing bugs, making code easier to understand
- →Work with a globally distributed team of experienced engineers on search capabilities
- →Be an expert on Elasticsearch search relevance and drive improvements
- →Collaborate with community members on issues and pull requests
- →Write idiomatic modern Java for Elasticsearch
Requirements
- ✓Professional experience with search and vector databases, using algorithms like HNSW, IVF
- ✓Strong skills in core Java and standard library data structures
- ✓Ability to work with high autonomy on projects from beginning to end
- ✓Experience with collaborative development and asynchronous collaboration
- ✓Familiarity with data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra
- ✓Excellent verbal and written communication skills
