About the Team Launched in 2021, Fanatics Betting and Gaming is the online and retail sports betting subsidiary of Fanatics, a global digital sports platform. The Fanatics Sportsbook is available to 95% of the addressable online sports bettor market in the U.S. Fanatics Casino is currently available online in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Fanatics Betting and Gaming operates twenty-two retail sports betting locations, including the only sportsbook inside an NFL stadium at Northwest Stadium. Fanatics Betting and Gaming is headquartered in New York with offices in Denver, Leeds and Dublin. We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Enterprise Loyalty team. In this role, you will help design, build, and operate scalable, high-quality backend systems that power customer-facing products and internal platforms. You are an experienced technologist who enjoys shipping reliable software, collaborating cross-functionally, and delivering meaningful business impact. What You'll Do • Design, develop, test, document, and deploy high-quality backend services into production • Build scalable, performant APIs and services that support customer-facing applications • Develop a deep understanding of our industry, products, feature set, and roadmap • Lead the technical delivery of new features from functional requirements through implementation • Contribute to architectural discussions and help define engineering standards, best practices, and guidelines • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to make technology decisions that improve our products • Participate in on-call rotations to troubleshoot and resolve production issues • Escalate risks and blockers early and proactively propose solutions • Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and knowledge sharing • Improve system reliability, observability, testability, and operational excellence metrics • Contribute to team planning, estimation, and design discussions • Mentor junior engineers and help onboard new team members • Be open to occasional travel to Fanatics offices, conferences, and team events What We're Looking For • 3+ years of experience building and operating highly scalable backend services • Strong experience with Go (Golang) as a primary development language • Experience designing APIs and distributed systems • Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM software development practices • Strong collaboration skills and a team-first mindset • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders • Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving priorities If you meet most — but not all — of these qualifications, we still encourage you to apply.
