About the Role

Vesalius Therapeutics is seeking a capable and highly motivated Lab Automation Engineer to join their growing team. This role involves designing, maintaining, and implementing lab instrumentation and robotic systems to support discovery activities within the Assays & HTS team.

Key Responsibilities

→Contribute to the design, optimization, and operation of automation processes for in vitro cell-based assays
→Manage high-throughput automation equipment including liquid handlers and robotic systems
→Translate bench scientists’ manual workflows to automated processes
→Perform regular maintenance on and troubleshoot issues with various lab instruments
→Identify and proactively troubleshoot technical issues
→Work effectively with multi-disciplinary groups to improve reliability and efficiency
→Communicate benefits, limitations, and potential risks in automated workflows

Requirements

✓Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or related discipline with 3+ years of lab automation experience
✓Working knowledge of robotic systems, automated liquid handlers, and multimodal lab instruments
✓Understanding of Python programming, including API integration and data processing
✓Familiarity with lab orchestration/scheduling software
✓Basic understanding of common in-vitro assays and routine lab bench work
✓Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot automated systems and adapt to evolving technology
✓Excellent organizational and communication skills
✓Strong computer skills and IT orientation
✓Ability to work on cross-functional teams
✓Team player with a strong work ethic
✓Continuously learns and adapts quickly to new information
