The Opportunity Flock Safety is a leading public safety company dedicated to eliminating crime through a full-service offering of hybrid hardware and software systems. Flock’s LPR and Video products detect and track objects to provide its customers with the best information to make actionable decisions. As a Machine Learning Engineer in Object Tracking, you will play a critical role in architecting and deploying large-scale, real-time, and accurate multi-object tracking solutions. You will work closely with research scientists, ML engineers, infrastructure teams, and operations to develop high-performance systems for tracking people, vehicles, or other objects. How you’ll make an impact: - Develop motion-based and appearance-based tracking models, integrating deep learning, probabilistic modeling, and graph-based techniques. - Optimize tracking algorithms for speed, accuracy, and scalability in real-time and batch processing environments. - Collaborate with device, data engineering and infrastructure teams to manage hybrid video processing, and storage. - Develop data pipelines to create appropriate datasets and model feedback - Leverage cutting-edge research and technology to create custom solutions - Design and run experiments to test new ideas or improvements to existing models - Build visualization and monitoring tools to evaluate the quality of our data and models - Collaborate across teams and product to deliver solutions that fit within business and organizational requirements - Review code of other Machine Learning Engineers The Skillset - 3+ years of industry experience in Deep Learning and Computer Vision - Experience with Computer Vision modeling, such as Object Detection, Multi-Object Tracking, etc. - Experience in metric learning, contrastive learning, and embedding-based ReID models - Experience with integrating tracking algorithms like SORT, DeepSORT, ByteTrack, FairMOT, or graph-based tracking into systems - Knowledge of probabilistic models (e.g., Kalman Filters, Bayesian filtering) and trajectory prediction. - Experience in working with hybrid systems of deployed devices working with cloud processing - Strong experience in Python - Experience leading projects from R&D to production - Experience with SQL - Basic Git knowledge - Basic Bash knowledge Feeling uneasy that you haven’t ticked every box? This serves as a preview of the 90 day plan you will receive if you were to be hired in this role at Flock Safety. The First 30 Days - Analyze and document the end-to-end pipeline. Understand and improve the tools we have to triage customer complaints and to monitor performance in production. The First 60 Days - Define clear SOP for triaging customer issues and analysing root causes. - Perform a small improvement to R&D environment (from a list of known issues/tech debt. 90 Days & Beyond - Work with one of the tracking team members to improve Object Detection, Tracking or selection. - Work with one of the tracking team members to improve one of our algorithms. Salary & Equity In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary between $150,000 and $165,000 as well as Flock Safety Stock Options.
