About The Role
Fora Travel is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and empower a cross functional sprint team within the Booking Platform pod. Our team's mission is to empower a new generation of travel entrepreneurs by making it fast and easy to search, book, and manage incredible experiences for their clients. Weβre looking for someone who can manage our growing list of travel integrations and navigate an ocean of complex data to provide lightning fast results and everything advisors need to make the right decisions quickly.
You will partner closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to deliver meaningful business outcomes while maintaining a high standard of technical excellence. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about developing people, driving technical excellence, and excited to work on deep technical scaling problems.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Manage day to day execution of a cross functional sprint team, ensuring strong delivery, clear priorities, and sustainable development practices.
β’ Partner closely with product and design counterparts to define solutions that improve the advisor booking experience and drive measurable business outcomes.
β’ Oversee the development of new platform capabilities while continuously improving existing functionality across booking workflows, content data pipelines, and external hotel distribution integrations.
β’ Provide technical leadership by engaging deeply with architecture, implementation details, and engineering fundamentals to guide high quality technical decisions.
β’ Coach and develop engineers through regular feedback, mentorship, and career development support.
β’ Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that reflects the organizationβs commitment to building diverse and high performing engineering teams.
Requirements
β’ 4+ years of experience in engineering management roles with a proven track record of driving successful product deliveries and team growth.
β’ 8+ years experience in web systems development.
β’ Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, effectively manage performance, and build highly motivated, engaged teams.
β’ Strong technical acumen, with experience making informed architectural decisions, addressing technical debt, and setting robust engineering standards.
β’ Exceptional project management and organizational skills, including the ability to break down complex projects, anticipate risks, and deliver consistently high-quality outcomes.
β’ Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders and facilitate productive, drama-free project launches.
β’ Proven recruiting experience, capable of evaluating engineering candidates effectively and representing the company positively.
β’ A collaborative, empathetic leadership style that emphasizes humility, openness to feedback, accountability, and continuous learning.
β’ Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort working in an early- to mid-stage startup environment where ambiguity and pace are part of the fun.
β’ First-principles thinker who carefully evaluates each problem, thoughtfully choosing between established best practices and bespoke solutions, especially when designing team processes and norms.
Compensation
Compensation range for this role can vary widely depending on experience, and for this role an indicative range is $185k-$235k + equity. Other benefits include:
