About the Role
We are looking for a Software Engineer to help evolve our public and internal API ecosystem. In this role, you will design and build API frameworks, contribute to our long-term versioning strategy, and work on the core platform that powers thousands of partner integrations and developers. You will collaborate closely with other engineers, product managers, and platform teams to make our API surface reliable, scalable, and easy to use, helping us deliver a great developer experience in a fast-growing, multi-tenant SaaS environment.
Key Responsibilities
- →Implement and evolve core API platform components used by product teams
- →Contribute to and uphold API governance standards including schemas, naming conventions, and security guidelines
- →Participate in API lifecycle management including versioning, migrations, and deprecations
- →Build and maintain tooling for SDK generation, documentation automation, and developer onboarding workflows
- →Design and implement features in multi-tenant, high-traffic API systems handling millions of requests per day
- →Build and improve frameworks for API reliability including rate limiting, circuit breaking, and data consistency patterns
- →Contribute to the architecture of secure and resilient integration pipelines such as webhooks and events
- →Help shape a great API developer experience through consistent API design and clear documentation
- →Contribute to an internal API catalog and schema registry for team discovery and reuse
- →Improve API observability through structured logging, telemetry hooks, and analytics dashboards
- →Work with product managers to break down platform requirements into technical designs
- →Partner with other engineering teams on API modeling and backwards-compatible evolution
- →Provide technical mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers
- →Participate in and occasionally lead design reviews and architecture discussions
Requirements
- ✓4+ years of professional software engineering experience
- ✓2+ years working on large-scale SaaS products or platforms
- ✓Proven experience designing or implementing public-facing APIs, internal platforms, or integration ecosystems
- ✓Strong understanding of API paradigms including REST and GraphQL
- ✓Solid coding skills in JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js with production experience
- ✓Experience with distributed systems concepts including queues, event buses, and failure recovery
- ✓Demonstrated ability to work on high-scale systems handling millions of events or API calls per day
Preferred Qualifications
- ✓Experience with API gateways such as GCP, AWS API Gateway, NGINX, or Envoy
- ✓Hands-on work with streaming APIs, WebSockets, SSE, or long-polling patterns
- ✓Familiarity with domain modeling and related patterns including DDD
- ✓Experience contributing to internal developer platforms, CLI tooling, or API scaffolding frameworks
- ✓Track record of driving cross-team technical initiatives
- ✓Contributions to open-source API tools or published API design documentation
