ABOUT GROWTHX AI
At GrowthX, weβre building the modern growth engine for marketing teams. Since launching in 2024, we've grown from concept to eight-figure annual revenue. To date, we've raised a $12M Series A led by Madrona Venture Group and we partner with 60+ companies ranging from high-growth startups to industry leaders like Lovable, Webflow, Ramp, Superhuman, Strapi, Abnormal Security, and Augment Code.
Weβve built something different: an operating system that unifies powerful AI workflows with forward-deployed experts to transform content into compounding organic growth. Weβre building the growth infrastructure marketing teams wish theyβd always had β the system that reliably turns context into strategy, strategy into execution, and execution into measurable growth.
ABOUT THE ROLE
AI is reshaping go-to-market. Not just content creation. The entire surface area: product experiences, developer tools, documentation, integrations, research systems.
GrowthX runs a high-end AI product studio for this shift. We build AI agents, custom products, and advanced automations for B2B companies on top of Output.ai [Upgrade to PRO to see link] our open-source AI workflow framework. Think Palantir's forward-deployed model, but for GTM.
Recent examples:
- For Lovable: An AI agent that creates templates for their product
- For Airbyte: An agent that integrates with new connectors and creates docs pages by sending pull requests
- For Augment: An entire research site for discovering and cataloging MCPs
Every one of these is a real product β with data models, APIs, background jobs, and production infrastructure. We need engineers who can build the whole thing, not just the UI layer.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build under our clients' brands. Our clients are companies like Lovable, Vercel, Ramp, Airbyte, and Augment. You'll build things that live under their domains and serve their users. The work varies β a micro app one week, a full website the next, taking over a section of an existing site the week after. You ship working products in weeks, not quarters.
- Build AI workflows with Output.ai [Upgrade to PRO to see link] You'll design and build the workflows that power our client growth needs β using Output to orchestrate LLMs, integrate APIs, process data, and automate complex tasks. You're not just consuming AI outputs, you're building the pipelines that produce them.
- Integrate AI into real products. That means designing how agent outputs flow into UIs, how background workflows process data, and how users interact with non-deterministic systems.
- Work directly with clients. You'll understand their product, their stack, and their goals. You'll be in the room when technical decisions get made, not waiting for a ticket to land in your queue.
WHO YOU ARE
- Strong web developer who thinks in systems. You care about domain modeling, data integrity, and clean architecture β not just getting pixels on screen. You think about how the data flows before you think about how the page looks.
- Full-stack capable. You can build a database-backed feature from migration to deployed UI. You're not afraid of the server and you're not afraid of the browser.
- Pragmatic builder. You pick the simplest tool that works. You don't add abstractions until you need them. You don't reach for a library when 20 lines of code will do. You've seen what over-engineering costs and you avoid it.
- Strong in the JavaScript ecosystem. React, TypeScript, etc. Client work means variety and you adapt quickly to different stacks and codebases.
- AI-fluent. You use AI tools in your daily workflow. You understand that AI makes writing code fast and cheap β which makes reading, reviewing, and architecting code more important, not less. You don't merge output you wouldn't defend in a review.
- Quality-driven. You test your own work. You think about edge cases. You write code that the next person can read and maintain. You care about performance, accessibility, and the details that separate good products from great ones.
WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU EXCEPTIONAL
- Agency or web studio background where you shipped across multiple clients and domains
- Experience with CMS platforms (headless or traditional)
- Shipped products end-to-end (not just features within a product)
- Experience integrating LLMs or AI systems into production applications
- Contributed to or maintained open-source projects
- Experience with Rails β engineers who've worked in Rails tend to bring strong instincts around domain modeling, server-side architecture, and simplicity that are rare in the JS ecosystem. Internally we use Rails and TypeScript React for our products, so Rails experience also means you can work across our product layer if needed, not just on the forward-deployed team.
HOW WE WORK
Think First, Build Second. AI made building fast and cheap. Writing code is no longer the bottleneck β thinking is. Before you build anything, invest real time understanding the problem. Study the context. Research what great looks like. Work backwards from the business reason into a detailed plan. The planning can still be fast, but it can't be skipped. Speed without direction is just drift.
Own the Outcome. Freedom and responsibility go together. We own our work, chase down answers, and take initiative. Don't wait for direction. Don't treat your scope as someone else's problem once it leaves your hands. Every one of us shapes the outcome.
Work in the Open. We're a remote company. Nobody can see you work. Share the plan before you execute. Share progress while you execute. A rough plan shared early beats a polished plan shared after the work is done wrong. If leadership has to chase you down to find out what happened, the process already failed.
Chase the Context. Read the docs. Understand the product, the space, the business, the customer. Nobody is going to sit you down and explain everything. The context is there β go get it. We're too small for anyone to just write code without understanding the business.
Move Fast, Stay Steady. Know when to sprint and when to pump the brakes. Don't over-engineer low-stakes tasks. Don't under-think critical ones. That judgment is what makes senior people here genuinely senior, regardless of title.
Process for Context, Not Control. We believe good process exists to share context, not enforce control. It should make smart people faster β not make average teams adequate. If you need Scrum, OKRs, and sprint cycles to keep a team productive, we're probably not the right fit β and that's okay.
Small team. High autonomy. No layers. You'll work directly with founders, engineers, and delivery leads.
HOW TO APPLY
We're not looking for a resume and a cover letter. We're looking for how you think.
Write a short article (1,000β2,000 words) covering two things:
1. Your story. What you've built, how you think about web development, and why this role fits where you're headed.
2. A product you'd build with Output.ai [Upgrade to PRO to see link] Explore Output.ai [Upgrade to PRO to see link] learn the framework, and propose a product you'd build on top of it. What's the idea, who's it for, and how would you build it? Bonus points if you prototype it β but a well-thought-out writeup is just as valuable.
Writing is how we work. We're a remote, async team where the quality of your written thinking determines the quality of what gets built. AI made everyone faster at writing code β that makes clear thinking, strong writing, and taste for great architecture the real differentiators.
Your article is your first impression. Make it count.
