About the Role
The Department of Health Policy and Management at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health seeks a part-time Research Assistant II to support a one-year mixed methods study on Steward Health Care bankruptcy and private equity–associated healthcare failures. This role involves document and data collection, financial and policy analysis, qualitative interviews, and preparation of publications and presentations.
Key Responsibilities
- →Conduct systematic searches for publicly available documents related to Steward Health Care and comparable organizations
- →Organize and maintain structured databases tracking key events, entities, financial and operational indicators
- →Assist faculty with preparation of datasets, tabulations, and tables/figures for financial and trend analyses
- →Conduct literature and policy reviews on state and federal oversight of private equity involvement in healthcare
- →Support key informant interviews by identifying participants, coordinating outreach, and maintaining records
- →Attend interviews with project leadership and manage recording, note taking, and organization of transcripts
- →Draft analytic memos summarizing findings from document review, financial analysis, and interviews
- →Contribute to drafting background sections, exhibits, and content for white papers, issue briefs, and manuscripts
- →Assist in preparing slide decks and presentation materials for policymakers, regulators, and academic audiences
- →Provide general project coordination support, including maintaining work plans, organizing meetings, and assisting with documentation
Requirements
- ✓Ability to conduct systematic searches for publicly available documents
- ✓Experience organizing and maintaining structured databases
- ✓Skills in preparing datasets, tabulations, and tables/figures
- ✓Knowledge of state and federal oversight of private equity in healthcare
- ✓Ability to support key informant interviews and maintain records
- ✓Experience with qualitative research methods and interview techniques
- ✓Strong writing skills for drafting analytic memos and publications
- ✓Ability to contribute to drafting background sections and exhibits
- ✓Skills in preparing presentation materials for various audiences
- ✓Experience with project coordination and documentation
