ROLE OVERVIEW
The TechOps Manager - Baseball - Systems Engineering leads the evolution of the platform powering Hawk-Eye and KinaTrax Baseball systems.
This role drives platform engineering initiatives, including infrastructure redesign, integration, and cross-system standardization, to improve how systems are architected, deployed, and scaled across MLB, MiLB, collegiate, and international environments.
You will collaborate with TechOps, Solution Teams, Engineering, and Operations (Live and Implementation) to ensure innovation is operationally sound and scalable.
This is a build-and-improve role, accountable for platform progression, hardware architecture consistency, and reducing operational complexity.
This manager will have at least one direct report, work closely with Operations to identify and fix system issues, and prototype new features. They will also collaborate with Procurement and Warehouse to ensure correct kit provision and maintain build standards during system rollouts.
WHAT YOUβLL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
- Hardware Platform Development
- Define and maintain standard hardware configurations across all deployments
- Improve system design to increase reliability and reduce operational complexity
- Ensure consistency across installations globally
- System Improvement
- Identify recurring issues and drive changes to remove them at the root
- Prototype and test hardware improvements in controlled and live environments
- Feed operational insights into future system design
- Diagnostics and Root Cause Analysis
- Lead investigation of complex or repeat system issues
- Track corrective actions and ensure they are implemented
- Improve tools and processes for system diagnostics
- Collaboration Across Teams
- Work closely with engineering, product and operations teams to align system design with real-world use
- Support field service teams with clear standards and technical guidance
- Provide input into system design during sales and deployment planning
- Standards and Documentation
- Maintain system build standards and hardware specifications
- Ensure accurate documentation for deployment, troubleshooting and maintenance
- Provide input into procurement processes and build processes to maintain the highest level of standards for new system rollouts
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Bachelorβs degree in engineering, computer science or a related field.
- 5+ years in systems engineering or technical support, including at least 2 years managing or supervising teams.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software and networking.
- Ability to analyse logs and performance data to drive improvements.
- Excellent communication and crossβfunctional collaboration skills.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Experience in broadcast or sportsβtechnology environments.
- Familiarity with HawkβEye and KinaTrax systems.
- Experience managing remote support teams.
