CONTEXT H Company is building a new class of agentic AI systems—autonomous software capable of executing complex workflows across tools and environments. Following a landmark European seed round and early enterprise traction, the company is entering a pivotal phase: scaling from breakthrough technology and early deployments to a robust, global AI platform business. To support this transition, H Company is hiring a VP Engineering to join the executive leadership team and co-drive the company’s evolution from startup to category-defining scale-up. MISSION: The VP Engineering will be responsible for: - Defining and executing a scalable, defensible technology strategy - Building a world-class engineering organization and platform - Partnering with the CEO on product direction, investor communication, and long-term vision - Ensuring H Company successfully bridges frontier AI research and enterprise-grade deployment This role is central to converting early technical advantage into sustained product leadership and commercial scale. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 1. PLATFORM & TECHNOLOGY STRATEGY - Architect and scale H’s AI platform (agents, orchestration, model integration, infra) - Make critical build vs. buy decisions across the stack - Ensure performance, reliability, and cost efficiency at scale - Establish durable technical moats in a rapidly evolving AI landscape 2. FROM INNOVATION TO PRODUCTIZATION - Translate cutting-edge AI capabilities into repeatable, enterprise-ready products - Standardize systems that are currently bespoke or forward-deployed - Balance speed of iteration with platform robustness and maintainability 3. ORGANIZATIONAL SCALE - Build and lead a high-caliber engineering organization - Scale from a startup structure to multi-layered, high-output teams - Implement processes that enable speed without sacrificing quality 4. EXECUTIVE & INVESTOR INTERFACE - Act as a key counterpart to the CEO in board and investor discussions - Clearly articulate H Company’s technology and product roadmap - Provide credibility and depth in technical due diligence and fundraising contexts 5. CROSS-FUNCTIONAL LEADERSHIP - Operate at the intersection of Research, Product, and Go-to-Market - Align engineering execution with customer outcomes and revenue growth - Help define the company’s long-term product and platform positioning PROFILE LEADERSHIP & SCALE - Experience as CTO / VP Engineering (or equivalent) in a high-growth, venture-backed environment - Proven ability to scale teams and systems through rapid growth phases TECHNICAL CREDIBILITY - Deep expertise in distributed systems, AI/ML infrastructure, or developer platforms - Ability to engage with frontier research while driving production excellence STRATEGIC ORIENTATION - Strong product intuition and ability to shape platform strategy - Comfortable operating in ambiguity and fast-moving technical landscapes INVESTOR READINESS - Experience engaging with investors, boards, and senior stakeholders - Ability to communicate complex technical topics with clarity and authority OPPORTUNITY This is a rare opportunity to: - Shape the technical foundation of a potential category leader in agentic AI - Partner directly with the CEO on company-building and strategic decisions - Play a defining role in scaling a European AI company to global relevance Location: - Paris or London. - Please expect some travel between offices on a reasonable cadence (e.g., every 4-6 weeks).
