Senior Backend Engineer, Deliveries and Orders at Hellofresh

By working with our Warsaw office, you will help shape scalable, data-driven products used across our markets, working with a modern tech stack and international teams to continuously improve how people discover, order, and enjoy HelloFresh’s products, today and in the future. About the role: What's in the Box You will join the Consumer Mega Alliance as part of the Deliveries and Orders squad. Your mission is to build the high-performing and scalable systems that power HelloFresh’s "Core Actions”, ensuring that millions of global users can place orders and manage their deliveries quickly and without frustration. You will play a critical role in modernizing our core domains by decoupling them from legacy monolithic systems, building the robust Order Management APIs and Delivery Services needed to unlock new business capabilities like B2B ordering, ad-hoc changes, and dynamic delivery cutoffs. What you’ll do: The Recipe • Deliver high-quality architecture, design, and development services for microservices, ensuring robust deployment and operational stability using DevOps practices. • Provide expertise within autonomous, cross-functional agile teams, collaborating closely with Product Owners, Front-end Engineers, and Designers to meet project milestones. • Apply an in-depth understanding of core product architecture to act as a technical authority, offering support and knowledge sharing to other contributors. • Execute technical tasks using a state-of-the-art stack, including Golang, Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes. • Perform problem-solving services across a wide range of platforms and environments to ensure system reliability and performance. What you’ll bring: The Ingredients • Solid experience in backend development, covering Monolithic, Microservice, and distributed event-driven architectural patterns. • Solid hands-on experience working with AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) beyond casual experimentation. You use AI agents as thought partners to onboard on unfamiliar codebases and navigate new areas of the code with confidence. You have a practical sense of how the context you provide to AI tools - specifications, constraints, examples - shapes output quality, and a developing awareness of how agentic outputs can fail, with growing habits around verifying, testing, and setting boundaries on AI-generated work. • Proficiency in languages such as Golang. JVM/Kotlin is nice to have • Proven track record of delivering services using Docker and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes. • Extensive experience in implementing true Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines. • Practical application of TDD, BDD, DDD, and distributed architectural patterns. • Background in developing event-driven architectures utilizing Kafka and/or RabbitMQ. • Experience working with MongoDB and PostgreSQL • Familiarity with e-commerce, subscription-based business models, and GraphQL integration is considered a significant advantage.
