About the Role
We are looking for a ClickHouse Staff Engineer to join HockeyStack, a company building the agent infrastructure for enterprise revenue. This role involves managing and scaling ClickHouse clusters to handle massive volumes of GTM data, ensuring fast, reliable, and accurate analytics infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- →Manage and scale ClickHouse clusters to 100s of TBs
- →Maintain data consistency across replicas and shards
- →Profile and optimize heavy ETL/ELT queries and table engines
- →Tune key configurations for performance
- →Benchmark cluster performance
- →Improve observability stack on DataDog
- →Set up alerting on query performance and disk usage
- →Own backup and restore processes
- →Plan and execute upgrades with minimal downtime
- →Test and document disaster recovery scenarios
- →Own security within ClickHouse
- →Resolve production issues and prevent them
- →Participate in Architecture Review process
Requirements
- ✓Ownership-first mindset

- ✓Curious, self-aware, and feedback-driven
- ✓5+ years hands-on ClickHouse experience
- ✓8+ years working as a DBA with distributed OLAP databases
- ✓Experience with data volume at scale
- ✓Strong systems background with deep understanding of IO performance and network protocols
- ✓Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries
- ✓Experience with Linux server administration and storage
- ✓Experience with monitoring/alerting tools is a plus
- ✓Familiarity with data infrastructure, reporting systems, or analytics-heavy SaaS products
