ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are seeking an Interior Designer to join our Design Studio team. In this role, you will partner closely with the Director of Design + Operations and play a key part in developing and maintaining design packages across both infill and suburban communities, with a focus on the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston markets.
You will also work directly with homeowners on personalization and upgrade selections, which will include on-site visits to meet with the Construction team. This position reports to the Director of Home Product Development, Design + Operations, and requires strong cross-functional collaboration with Architecture, Sales, Procurement, Construction, and Tech.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Develop curated design packages and options of varying spec levels and price points for Homebound developments, including options for homebuyers to personalize.
- Work closely with Sales and Procurement to ensure designs deliver on budget with market and style objectives aligned with comps.
- Deliver professional design presentations to clients - both virtually and in person - featuring mood boards, product details, material characteristics, computer renderings, and physical samples.
- Partner closely with the Tech team to load products and create offerings within our software platform, which powers our design packages, personalization tools, and client-facing Checkout experience.
- Use Bluebeam to clearly communicate design intent and redline interior and cabinet shop drawings, enabling our drafters to produce detailed Construction Document updates, including interior elevations, interior details, and floor plan diagrams with accurate material locations.
- Maintain organized and current project files and assist in managing the Homebound Material Catalog with the ability to source materials as requested.
- Create design package sample boards and a professional display to be used during client meetings.
- Some travel required for market research in new developments or site visit walk-throughs.
- Meet metrics related to Design Studio key results and work with the Director of Design + Operations to establish standards tied to performance goals and deadlines.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- 6+ years of relevant experience in interior design
- Bachelorβs Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field.
- Must have experience working in a homebuilder design studio or design firm and leading client meetings.
- Must have experience in selecting interior specifications / finishes for architectural drawings with a strong understanding of materials.
- Client facing experience with strong customer service and listening skills.
- Experience with design software e.g. Bluebeam Revu and graphics editing tools e.g. Photoshop or InDesign.
- Experience with Revit or AutoCAD is preferred and you will be asked to demonstrate your technical ability with computer drafting or redlines using Bluebeam.
- Must have exceptional written and verbal communication abilities and understanding of most current design trends for residential construction.
- Exceptional time management and multitasking abilities.
- Strong creativity skills and problem solving aptitude with a keen eye for detail.
