ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Full-Stack Software Engineer within Hopper Technology Solutions (HTS), you will architect the travel commerce engines powering our rapid expansion into APAC markets. This role is critical to building and localized world-class travel portals for major financial institutions and consumer brands (such as CommBank and Trip.com [Upgrade to PRO to see link] directly impacting how millions of users in the region experience travel.
You will join a high-velocity team responsible for adapting Hopperβs market-leading fintech and e-commerce stacks to meet the specific regulatory and consumer demands of the world's fastest-growing travel market.
WHAT WOULD YOUR DAY-TO-DAY LOOK LIKE
- Design and operate full-stack solutions and APIs optimized for high-scale B2B commerce partnerships across APAC.
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to localize portal features, ensuring seamless integration with regional payment and distribution standards.
- Leverage LLMs and AI tooling to generate production-grade code that accelerates the delivery of partner-specific requirements.
- Develop and maintain gRPC and REST-based microservices that power real-time travel inventory and fintech ancillaries.
- Work autonomously to resolve complex technical challenges while maintaining strong asynchronous alignment with global stakeholders.
- Iterate quickly on engineering improvements that enhance the scalability and performance of our B2B travel ecosystems.
AN IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS
- Extensive experience with React and TypeScript used to build highly localized, performant web interfaces for complex e-commerce environments.
- Proficiency in Scala and distributed systems or a strong desire to apply functional programming to large-scale backend architectures.
- Commercial mindset that prioritizes regional product-market fit and the unique user behaviors found in APAC digital ecosystems.
- Adeptness with AI-driven workflows, including the use of LLMs for development and the implementation of agentic AI systems to enhance partner support.
- Hands-on knowledge of GCP and cloud-native practices, specifically in managing the latency and data residency requirements of international partnerships.
- Strong technical agility and the ability to fearlessly navigate unknown codebases to deliver high-impact features under tight commercial deadlines.

"This position is offered as an Independent Contractor role (Gyeyakjik / Freelancer) based in South Korea, supporting the Hopper Cloud / HTS (Hopper Technology Solutions) business unit. The successful candidate will engage with Hopper as an independent service provider and will not be provided with an employment contract under the South Korean Labor Standards Act (LSA). As an independent entity, the contractor is solely responsible for:
- Tax & Social Insurance: Reporting and paying all applicable local taxes (including the 3.3% withholding tax for freelancers if applicable) and managing their own contributions to the 'Four Major Insurances' (National Pension, Health, Employment, and Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance).
- Compliance: Ensuring they have the legal right to work as a freelancer in Korea (e.g., F-series visa holders or business license holders) and maintaining their own equipment and workspace.
- Benefits: This engagement is a commercial service agreement and does not carry eligibility for statutory benefits such as severance pay (Toegyeok-geum), paid annual leave, or overtime protections mandated for employees.
