Overview: The User Experience / User Interface Designer (UX/UI Designer) will collaborate closely with product management and engineering to design and deliver innovative solutions that shape the product’s direction, visual identity, and overall user experience. This role leads the creation of intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling digital experiences. Operating with a user‑centered mindset, this Designer independently drives design initiatives from discovery through implementation, partnering with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to translate business needs into meaningful user solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong design thinking, interaction design expertise, and a solid understanding of usability principles, while also contributing to design systems and ongoing product improvements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead UX discovery activities, including user research, stakeholder interviews, and competitive analysis.
• Translate user needs and business requirements into user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high‑fidelity designs.
• Conduct user research and synthesize feedback to inform design decisions.
• Design responsive, accessible interfaces for both web and mobile applications.
• Craft compelling user experiences through thoughtful use of imagery, typography, layout, motion, and color.
• Develop clear visualizations that make complex data memorable, understandable, and actionable.
• Generate original design concepts that simplify complex problems and enhance usability.
• Produce wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and site maps to communicate interaction patterns and design intent.
• Conduct usability testing and integrate findings into iterative design improvements.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design, refine, and evaluate new features.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to ensure design feasibility and successful implementation.
• Contribute to and maintain design systems, style guides, and component libraries.
• Ensure all designs comply with accessibility standards and usability best practices.
• Present design concepts, rationale, and user journeys to stakeholders and leadership.
• Illustrate end‑to‑end user journeys through context scenarios, storyboards, and presentations.
• Analyze user behavior and product metrics to guide continuous improvement. Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement.
• Bring experience or strong enthusiasm for AI driven design and prototyping, including exploring how emerging AI tools can accelerate ideation, improve workflows, enhance the user experience, and streamline design operations.
• Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalon’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position; and
• Fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the Company.
Job Requirements:
• 3–5 years of professional UI/UX design experience
• Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design process and shipped products
• Experience applying design systems and patterns
• Proficiency in tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar
• Experience conducting usability testing and synthesizing research findings
• Knowledge of analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Hotjar)
• Experience designing for accessibility and inclusive design standards
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments
• Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML/CSS, basic understanding of development constraints)
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Strong visual and interaction design skills
• Analytical, curious, and problem-solving mindset
• Ability to balance user needs with business objectives
• Attention to detail and consistency
• Collaborative and adaptable work style
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
• Sedentary work (i.e. sitting for long periods of time);
• Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force;
• Frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects and repetitive motions;
• Subject to inside environmental conditions; and
• Travel for this position may include up to 20% to conduct field research.
