About the Role
We are looking for economists and machine learning engineers to join our fast-moving team at Instacart. The Economics team works on challenging problems in our multi-sided marketplace, focusing on pricing, online advertising, uplift modeling, and causal inference.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design and build end-to-end machine learning solutions
- →Work in small, cross-functional product teams with opportunities for growth
- →Collaborate with economists, data scientists, and operations research scientists
- →Develop high-impact solutions to support Instacart's growth plans
- →Work closely with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders
- →Drive organization-wide initiatives
Requirements
- ✓PhD in Economics or related field with focus on data-intensive problems, or 3-5 years of industry experience in machine learning or economics-focused roles
- ✓Blend of economic theory, applied econometrics, and business skills
- ✓Expertise in causal inference with observational and experimental data
- ✓Strong engineering skills with expertise in R or Python
- ✓Fluency in data manipulation (SQL, Pandas) and machine learning tools (scikit-learn, XGBoost, Keras/Tensorflow)
- ✓Ability to identify and prioritize high-impact problems
- ✓Willingness to travel internationally based on job requirements
- ✓Self-motivation and strong sense of ownership
