About the Role
Instacart is hiring a Risk & Compliance Automation Engineer to scale its Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) program through engineered automation. This senior role focuses on designing and building end-to-end automation systems to improve efficiency and data quality in compliance processes.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design and build automation for GRC processes, including evidence collection, control validations, and real-time control effectiveness checks
- →Use AI-native tools to rapidly build recurring scripts, agents, and automations
- →Build integrations across Snowflake, Databricks, Jira, GitHub, Okta, and cloud APIs
- →Design data pipelines that aggregate and normalize risk-relevant data
- →Build dashboards and operational views for risk trends and control-maturity indicators
- →Mentor GRC teammates on automation patterns
- →Serve as the SME for automated workflows
- →Develop vendor-agnostic automation solutions
- →Contribute to scalable onboarding of new subsidiaries
Requirements
- ✓BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience
- ✓8+ years in compliance automation, backend engineering, or similar technical fields
- ✓Strong experience in Python, SQL, and SaaS/cloud API integrations
- ✓Demonstrated ability to automate GRC processes
- ✓Experience building data pipelines or structured reporting for risk programs
- ✓AI-native working style with daily use of tools like Cursor, Claude Code
- ✓Understanding of security and compliance frameworks (SOC2, PCI, ISO27001, NIST CSF)
