About the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Engage team at Instructure. This role involves developing modern web experiences and services used globally by educators, learners, administrators, and partners. You will work closely with team members across the stack to deliver quality solutions that enhance the user experience for millions of educators and learners globally.

Key Responsibilities

→Own the technical design, planning, and end-to-end implementation of new features within the Engage team’s services
→Work collaboratively with a distributed, remote team using Agile methodologies
→Co-create across disciplines working closely with Product, Design, and other expert teams
→Follow and promote accessibility, testing, CI/CD, and participate in code reviews
→Build for international audiences with i18n/l10n pipelines and data residency considerations
→Instrument services with logs/metrics/traces and contribute to incident-ready observability
→Continuously improve by learning and sharing new methodologies, technologies, and skills

Requirements

✓A minimum of three years of professional experience as a software engineer
✓Professional working experience with modern frontend technologies (React, TypeScript)
✓Professional working experience with modern backend technologies (Ruby on Rails, Node)
✓Professional working experience with relational databases (Postgres, schema design, query tuning, migrations)
✓Ability to contribute to a feature's development from start to finish
✓Strong focus on problem-solving and the judgment to seek assistance effectively
✓Demonstrated ability to learn and grow based on mentorship and feedback
✓Comfortable participating in an on-call rotation for the services you own
✓Integrate AI tools into every aspect of your work
