About the Role
The Platform Team at Kong Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to building and maintaining critical services that power the Kong ecosystem. This role focuses on search infrastructure, notification systems, and audit logging services, requiring expertise in distributed systems and Golang.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design, develop, and maintain search infrastructure and query systems for product discovery and analytics
- →Build and optimize notification services for real-time alerts and updates
- →Develop and enhance audit logging systems for security and compliance data
- →Create MCP tools and integrations to extend platform AI functionality
- →Architect and implement scalable, distributed backend services using Golang
- →Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements
- →Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code with comprehensive testing
- →Optimize service performance, reliability, and scalability
- →Contribute to the platform team's technical roadmap and architecture
- →Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering excellence
- →Participate in on-call rotation for platform service availability
Requirements
- ✓5+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend services and distributed systems
- ✓Strong proficiency in Golang with production service experience
- ✓Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts
- ✓Experience with search infrastructure technologies like Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or Solr
- ✓Experience with event-driven architectures and notification systems
- ✓Strong knowledge of database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling
- ✓Experience with API design and development (REST, gRPC)
- ✓Solid understanding of microservices architecture and container orchestration
- ✓Experience with message queues and event streaming platforms
- ✓Strong computer science fundamentals including data structures and algorithms
- ✓Experience with CI/CD concepts and tools
- ✓Experience working with globally distributed teams
- ✓Excellent problem-solving skills for debugging distributed systems
