What you'll do

Lead the engineering strategy for an established team of 30 engineers across 3 squads in Japan. Optimize the ways of working and drive high performance to increase efficiency, velocity, and capacity.

Directly manage 5-7 leads, develop personalized growth plans, and set up succession plans for all key roles.
β’
Build strong relationships across delivery, product, and client stakeholders to facilitate strong collaboration across the business. Connect the dots between stakeholders.
β’
Capacity planning, hiring planning, and interviewing so that weβre consistently raising the bar and bringing on the right people.
β’
Balancing short-term objectives with long-term vision and anticipating the needs of the team, Kraken, and our clients.
β’
Roll out global strategic objectives within the team, supporting the team through change, building trust, and managing expectations.
β’
Work closely with the Head Of Engineering community and Senior Management to define global strategic direction and objectives, advocating on behalf of the team and their needs.
β’
Operate largely independently with little supervision or oversight to achieve group objectives.
β’
Drive operational excellence β reduce incidents in production and time to mitigation through quality and ownership.
β’
Become an expert in Kraken product capabilities, keep abreast of roadmaps, and be able to talk to clients or prospects about those capabilities alongside our Delivery and Sales teams.
What you'll need

A strong sense of delivery - how to balance speed, quality, and competing priorities to hit deadlines and maintain our 100% client migration record

Proven experience leading large high-performance teams and driving engineering excellence
β’
Strong communication skills in both English and Japanese, with a high degree understanding of Japanese business culture

The ability to operate largely independently and make decisions that are in the best interests of Kraken
