ABOUT US
The world is electrifying. As we plug in more devices and services, we need new ways to connect to power.
The traditional, one-size-fits-all utility approach — with complicated bills and frustrating customer service — no longer works. At Light, we make it easy to get affordable, renewable electricity by embedding power with the products that consumers already use, from the companies they love.
Light’s mission is to power a sustainable and abundant energy future for everyone. With Light's utility-as-API platform, companies from automakers and solar providers to real estate and beyond can offer their own, integrated electricity plans.
Imagine purchasing an electric vehicle that includes unlimited home charging, or solar panels that come bundled with any excess energy you might need from the grid. At Light, we're creating a flexible future where any company can offer their own branded electricity plans and make clean energy convenient for their customers.
Join us in building the digital energy infrastructure for a dynamic, sustainable future.
THE ROLE
BizOps at Light is the central nervous system of the company’s growth. You’ll work directly alongside the founders and a small, high-output team to build the analytical engine and operational systems that power every major decision: identifying the most attractive verticals to go after, shaping our pricing strategy, charting where to expand next, and turning one-off wins into repeatable playbooks.
Right now, Light is expanding into new states and verticals, building pricing into a first-class strategic capability, and scaling a partner model that spans solar, real estate, and EV charging. This role puts you at the center of all of it—shaping strategy in the room with founders and partners, then making it real at your desk.
In your first six months, you will:
- Drive partner growth, directly with partners. Run the experiments, deep-dive analyses, and strategic sprints that move enrollment and revenue across our partner portfolio. You’ll own the full cycle from hypothesis to recommendation to implementation—and you’ll be in the room with partner teams co-developing the strategy, not just handing over a deck.
- Run real experiments. You’ll design and execute structured research programs—conjoint analyses, MaxDiff studies, survey experiments, in-flow tests—to answer the questions that drive plan design, messaging, and go-to-market strategy. We treat experimentation as a first-class capability, not an afterthought.
- Codify what works into scalable playbooks. We know what works with our best partners—but it hasn’t been systematized yet. You’ll turn all of our learnings into repeatable frameworks so that every new partner launch is better than the last.
- Build the data and measurement infrastructure. Design metrics, dashboards, and reporting that give real-time visibility into partner health, funnel performance, and portfolio-level KPIs. We’re moving from scrappy spreadsheets to proper data tooling—you’ll help drive that transition and raise the analytical bar for the whole company.
In six months, success looks like: Light has a clear, data-backed view of partner performance across the portfolio, a repeatable growth playbook, and an experimentation cadence that other teams want to plug into.
You would describe yourself as:
- An operator who ships. Your instinct is to turn analysis into systems and processes, not decks. You thrive in sprint formats, know when “good enough” is the right call, and bring creative initiative to compress timelines.
- Analytically rigorous. You build models from messy data, design and interpret experiments, and translate numbers into decisions. You know which metrics actually move a business versus which ones just look good on a slide.
- Client-ready. You produce clean, logically sound materials that you’re confident putting in front of a partner CEO. You communicate clear “so-what” narratives and maintain a high bar for written and visual communication.
- A structured thinker in unstructured environments. You build frameworks that other people can adopt and use. Your work doesn’t live only in your head—it becomes company-wide standards.
- Cross-functionally fluent. You earn trust quickly with engineering, product, sales, and operations teams. You translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders and ship work without formal authority.
- 4+ years in operations, strategy & ops, consulting, chief of staff, or a similar high-ownership role—ideally at a high-growth startup or in a setting where you built systems rather than inherited them.
- Based in Austin, TX. This role is in-person.
