Hi there! Thanks for stopping by π
Are you an experienced Full Stack Engineer looking to make an exciting change: ditching the monolith and building new Golang & React microservices?
We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our team in Newmarket. You will make strong contributions to the team in rapidly and efficiently building solutions to our retailers' problems, focussing on iteration, experimentation, and stability.
You don't need to be an expert in Golang or React but you must be willing to learn as you go, and youβll have our full support on this journey.
Engineering @ Lightspeed:
β’ We build new features on top of a modern stack, consisting of web apps (in a mix of Angular & React) communicating through GraphQL and REST APIs to Go services, backed by databases and Kafka topics, all deployed using Docker in a continuous delivery cycle to AWS
β’ You donβt need to have experience in any of our specific technologies: weβre great at teaching good engineers how to use our modern SaaS stack
β’ We don't follow rigid Scrum or Kanban, but we do work in an agile, iterative way, and try to continuously improve and implement what works for us
β’ We value letting our merchants experience what we're building as soon as possible - So we deploy a change to production on average every 7 minutes
β’ Blameless culture and a continuous improvement mindset
What youβll be doing:
β’ Build stuff: this means coding, delivering new features, code reviews, fixing bugs, peer programming and incident response
β’ Own and be accountable for features and high-leverage coding projects
β’ Structure projects into small, actionable tasks to deliver the most value in no time
β’ Collaborate with engineers, product managers and designers to help plan the work ahead
β’ Learn and teach: knowledge sharing, chapter reviews, demos, mentoring fellow engineers
β’ Work on common services, shared libraries, upgrade/introduce new tooling or libraries, documentation, evolve best practices and processes etc.
What you need to bring:
β’ Senior level of engineering experience including both successes and failures (βscarsβ), which help you make better decisions
β’ Deep knowledge in at least one of the following: Golang, Java, PHP, C#, C++, Ruby, Python, Elixir
β’ Experience with either React, Vue, Angular or other javascript frontend framework
β’ Understand concepts like authentication, web security, models and databases, and the way that frontends consume APIs
β’ Willingness to mentor and train other Engineers in the team
We know that people are more than whatβs on their CV. If youβre unsure that you have the right profile for the role... hit the βApplyβ button and give it a try!
Be a changemaker
Youβll enjoy:
β’ Lots of autonomy, flexible work culture with the option of working remotely or from one of our beautiful offices.
β’ Genuine career growth opportunities within a company that's continuously expanding.
β’ Make a meaningful impact by helping merchants grow their businesses through creating or improving products and addressing customer feedback.
β’ Be part of a team large enough for growth yet agile enough for real impact.
β’ Work on high-traffic products with a global user base.
β’ Opportunity to work alongside other highly skilled engineers, learn and expand your skill set, forge wonderful relationships and make your mark within the diverse and inclusive Lightspeed culture, a true Canadian tech success story.
