About the Role
We are looking for a Founding Forward-Deployed Engineer to lead technical delivery on the ground in the UK. This role operates at the intersection of engineering, product, and customers, with a clear path to evolve into a Team Lead or Engineering Manager as the local team grows.
Key Responsibilities
- →Work directly with early UK customers to deploy, customize, and optimize Lyrebird's platform
- →Translate customer needs into pragmatic technical solutions
- →Own integrations, configuration, and implementation quality end-to-end
- →Contribute hands-on across frontend, backend, and infrastructure
- →Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and the Australian engineering team
- →Act as the technical anchor for the UK market
- →Establish best practices around delivery, testing, and deployment
- →Mentor future UK engineers and help shape the local team
Requirements
- ✓5+ years of experience
- ✓Strong startup experience (early or growth stage preferred)
- ✓Prior team leadership or team-building experience
- ✓Comfortable owning projects from problem definition through to production
- ✓Experience working directly with non-technical stakeholders or customers
- ✓Proficiency in TypeScript, React, Node.js, AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, S3, RDS), and Terraform
- ✓Experience with GitHub and interest in LLM tooling such as LangChain, LangFuse, or LangSmith
- ✓Bonus skills include Python for ML or data pipelines, CI/CD pipelines, and broader DevOps exposure
