Head of Product Design at Make

Make is evolving from a left-to-right automation canvas into a more flexible, AI-powered platform, one that is combining structured workflows with AI agents, new surfaces like Make Grid, and other experiences that are all in service of helping people manage and run their businesses in a visual way. We’re hiring a second Head of Product Design to own and evolve the visual product identity of Make and ensure that this evolution feels cohesive, intentional, and unmistakably Make. You’ll report to and partner directly with our current Head of Product Design, who leads UX strategy, research, and our core automation platform. Your mandate is complementary and distinct: elevate craft, define visual direction, and transform how design works as we enter the AI era. This is not a pure management role. You’ll lead a small team (3–4 designers), but you’ll also work hands-on in high-impact areas, shape strategic initiatives, and advocate for design excellence at the leadership level. What we are looking for: • A strong design leader with exceptional craft and visual taste, who cares deeply about detail, clarity, and cohesion • A point of view on how design evolves in an AI-first product organization • Proven experience shaping product direction in close partnership with Product and Engineering leadership • Ability to define and evolve visual systems that scale across complex product surfaces • Strong systems thinker who can balance long-term platform vision with near-term execution • Experience leading small, high-performing design teams while remaining hands-on in key initiatives • Confidence in presenting and defending design decisions to senior stakeholders and executives • Experience building products that combine structured workflows with more open-ended, AI-driven experiences • A track record of raising the quality bar across interaction design, visual design, motion, and overall product polish • Ability to move fluidly between strategy, concept development, and pixel-level refinement • Comfort operating in ambiguity and helping teams find clarity • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English • 7+ years of experience in product design, with several years in a senior or leadership role What you’ll do: • Define and lead the visual product direction across our most strategic initiatives • Partner closely with the Head of Product Design, VP-level Product and Engineering leaders to shape Make’s evolution toward AI- and agent-driven experiences • Raise the standard of craft and execution across the product • Work directly with a team of 3–4 designers through critique, concept development, and hands-on design work • Contribute personally to high-impact projects — from early concept exploration to final polish • Drive cohesion between our traditional automation canvas and emerging, more flexible AI-powered experiences • Advocate for quality and user-centric thinking in product planning and roadmap discussions • Strengthen collaboration rituals between Design, Product, and Engineering • Help evolve our design systems and visual language to support scale, flexibility, and clarity • Identify opportunities to go beyond incremental improvements and push bold creative direction where it matters most What we offer: • 📈 RSUs grant in a rapidly growing company raising its value every day • 💸 Annual bonus • 🌎 Multinational team with 42 nationalities creating the future of automation • 🎓 Learning & Development plan (online language, professional courses, conference tickets and other trainings) & 2 Company Learning Days per year • 🌳 1 Company Impact Days per year • 🍎 Notebook/Macbook and 34’’ curved monitor • 🏝 25 days of vacation, 4 sick days, company day off on 31st December • 🫶 10 care days to care for your loved ones • 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Extra parental vacation (3-6 months) • 👶 RSUs grant for a newborn child • ☂️ Life insurance • 🏋️ Benefit Plus Cafeteria (incl.
