About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join the Recommendations (Recs) team at Tinder. This role focuses on improving match quality, conversations, retention, and revenue through data-driven insights and machine learning. You will partner with Product, Engineering, and Machine Learning teams to identify opportunities, strengthen algorithms, and shape measurement and experimentation in a two-sided marketplace.
Key Responsibilities
- →Work closely with Product, Engineering, and ML to identify and evaluate new opportunities, define success metrics, and translate findings into product recommendations.
- →Support the ML team in improving algorithms across retrieval, ranking, and personalization, and strengthen offline/online evaluation.
- →Define and lead experimentation design and analysis tailored to a two-sided marketplace, and drive meta-analyses and playbooks.
- →Build tools and dashboards to improve experiment reads and KPI monitoring, and standardize templates for fast iteration.
- →Deliver executive-ready presentations and documents that clarify options, tradeoffs, risks, and expected business impact.
- →Be a trusted partner for the Recs pod, focused on delivering the best recommendations for the worldwide member base.
- →Mentor and inspire other data scientists, and review analyses to elevate practices across the team.
Requirements
- ✓Bachelor’s, Master’s, and/or Ph.D. degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Economics.
- ✓5+ years of professional experience in data science/analytics, with meaningful time in recommender systems, ranking, search, or personalization at consumer scale.
- ✓Fluency in SQL and Python.
- ✓Deep understanding of statistics and causal inference, with hands-on experience designing and analyzing online experiments.
- ✓Strong product sense and analytical rigor, with ability to frame questions and land actionable recommendations.
- ✓Familiarity with machine learning for recommendations, including offline/online metric design and model evaluation.
