ABOUT US
Hey! We’re Molg 👋 We’re building robotic systems that make electronics manufacturing circular. We work with hyperscalers and leading electronics manufacturers to automate how hardware is designed, manufactured, disassembled, repaired, reused, and recovered. Using robotics, computational design, and AI, our systems turn today’s e-waste into resilient, data-driven supply chains—and change how electronics are made in the first place.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
Join a talented cross-functional team of software, robotics, and hardware engineers to build and own the infrastructure, tooling, and deployment systems that power Molg’s robotic microfactories and software platforms. As a DevOps Engineer, you will:
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that support rapid, reliable deployment of software across robotics, embedded, and on-premise systems.
- Collaborate with software and robotics engineers to containerize workloads using Docker, ensuring consistent environments from development through production across local and factory-floor deployments.
- Develop and maintain automated build, test, and release pipelines—integrating hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) test stages for robotics system validation.
- Establish robust monitoring, alerting, and observability across Molg’s fleet of deployed robotic systems and on-premise infrastructure.
- Partner with QA and engineering teams to define quality gates in CI/CD pipelines and ensure regressions are caught before reaching production.
- Manage and improve developer tooling, local dev environments, and internal platform services to maximize engineering velocity.
- Drive security best practices across infrastructure—secrets management, access control, vulnerability scanning, and network security for on-premise systems.
- Administer and maintain local networking infrastructure including switches, VLANs, firewalls, and machine-to-machine communication across the factory floor.
- Respond to and resolve infrastructure incidents, conduct post-mortems, and implement lasting fixes.
- Contribute to a culture of automation—if something is done manually more than twice, help build the system that makes it automatic.
You’ll have the opportunity to build alongside an incredible team, develop innovative solutions, and grow in a fast-paced environment that values autonomy and impact.
WHO YOU ARE:
A systems-minded engineer who thrives at the intersection of software and infrastructure—comfortable scripting, architecting pipelines, and troubleshooting deep in the stack. You take pride in the reliability and scalability of the systems you build, and you understand that great DevOps is an enabler for every other engineer on the team. Specifically, you have:
- 5+ years of industry experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering, with demonstrated ownership of production infrastructure.
- Proficiency with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar—including pipeline design, secrets management, and artifact management.
- Strong experience with containerization using Docker and Docker Compose—building, deploying, and managing containers across on-premise environments.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent) managing on-premise servers and networked systems.
- Solid scripting and automation skills in Python and/or Bash.
- Experience administering Linux systems in a production environment—server provisioning, hardening, storage, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK, or similar).
- Experience supporting embedded or robotics systems, edge deployments, or industrial environments is a strong plus.
- Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, and local area network administration.
- Strong communication skills and a bias toward documentation—you leave things better than you found them.
- Ability to work in-person at Molg HQ in Sterling, VA.
WHO WE ARE:
We spend our days building robotic systems, developing complex assembly intelligence software, and designing the next generation of circular products for our customers. Given the importance of working hands-on with physical systems, the majority of our team is in-person collaboratively working in our industrial space in Sterling, VA, down the road from the largest data center market in the world. Our facility includes a variety of robots, CNC milling machines, 3D printers, and all the tools needed to build and test our products. It is important to us that anyone on our team that is interested in learning how to use our various pieces of equipment and machinery is taught and can gain the skills and appreciation for making physical things.
THINGS TO KNOW:
- We’re a hands on collaborative team with big ambitions, and there’s a good amount of context-switching. We expect people to be autonomous and drive their own work to completion.
- We are scrappy and looking to build a great sustainable company for years to come.
- As a growing company and startup, priorities may shift as customer or business requirements change. We strive to empower individuals with context and decision-making power to meet this need.
